Isn't that price well below what it was projected to be?

There was a mention of a possibility of a bundle price with the XMC-1. Is that still in the cards? (ie. do I wait for 2 months?) Jeff Hard to say, I think the bundle was wishful thinking from some lounge members. Though if you used the XPS-1 and XMC-1 together you would have the ADC phono capabilities some were wishing for.

It seems like Dan thought it was possible (quoted in post #1). Hi all,

3. The new and incredibly good sounding XPS-1 MC/MM phono stage will be out shortly and this will take care of your phono needs with real precision and fidelity at a very reasonable price point. We'll more than likely offer a bundle discount if it is ordered with the processor.

Call them. Past history says if price drops within ~2 weeks, you get a refund.

Some will ask,,,,,,eventually!!! What will the LP sound like running through the XPS-1 to the DC-1 and then to the amps? I just had to ask! First one with an answer ,,,,,,,,gets a cookie!
Or
What will the LP sound like running through the XPS-1 to the XSP-1 to the amps? Winner gets a bigger cookie!
Yep TT >. XPS-1. >. XSP-1. >. DC-1. >. Amps Milk and cookies to the first review.

Nutty Nick If I had a DC-1 I'd be plugging an XPS-1 in, seems like it should be a sweet little combo.

I think so as well. With my 2channel and HT it just dosnt plug in that way.. TT. >. XSP-1 >. XPR-1s . Sounds pretty sweet but would like to compare the XPS-1 >. DC-1. >. XPR-1s. But I guess I'll let someone else do that review.
How do you run the Mac mini, JRivers on it? Have you tried it with the DC-1?
Peace,
Nick

I'm a bit of a newbie to phono's. Where does the power for the XPS-1 come from? Is it a wallwart, a switching supply or a torroid? Or does it not require power?

It comes with a high quality 12V wallwart, but I expect you could power it with a 12V battery as well. The sound quality might even be better with a battery supplying the power, but the quality difference may not be audible. I don't know if Emotiva has compared the sound quality of a battery versus the wallwart, but it is a project you might want to try. It just might take the performance up to the next plateau.

Boy, that's a lot of work to get the right rated 12v battery, and have to find (or snip off from the wall wart) the proper adapter to attach to the battery or the batter holder. Then will it work with an A23, or do you need two 6 Volt, or eight 1.5 volt?

is the wall wart able to support 120/230V? if it can then maybe its a switcher and not a transformer.

Actually it is as simple as getting a decent size (3-7ah) 12v battery and going to radioshack to find the right adapter to fit the power supply port on the xps-1. My hospital throws out their 1 year old batteries all the time so it will only cost me about 3 bucks of radioshack gear. I am not saying it will be better, but worth the minimal effort for me. This exact reason is why the Musical Fidelity VLPS is so popular, it is not a great phono stage, but when battery operated it truly does outperform many others at the 100-300 dollar price range. IMHO

IMHO It's simple if we know the power requirement (it's not in the manual). Since the device is designed to be "always on," how long will you get out of each battery, or are you planning on putting a power switch on your power supply?

I would indeed place a power switch on the device, or unplug it when finished listening. Much like tube gear, turning it on a little before use should due, can'y see why it would need to always be on other then to protect other gear from violent bumps upon on/off. The power requirements are 12V DC, as Keith stated, not sure what else you need to know as the amperage is minimal in a phono stage ( the wall wart probably states how much it regulates).
Im sure we will get a few people chiming in once they get into peoples hands. I'll be picking one up as soon as my umc-200 gets in and I compare it to the usp-1, in and out of the system.
