Movie 8.5 Video 7.0 Soundtrack 9.0
Very entertaining. Abraham Lincoln as a vampire hunter wrapped in the Civil War and slavery. Well acted, believable storyline, good production values....
The movie has the uncanny ability to do justice to both the vampire genre and American Civil War history in one package without being hokey at all. A job well done...
Highly recommended...

Do the vampires sparkle? God, I hope not! That said, it did look interesting. I'm thinking about picking this one up as a rental when I get some time.

Saw it at the theater. Very well done. Excellent action and gripping intensity. The vampires remind me somewhat of zombies. The producers spring surprising coincidences. Very enjoyable. Definitely worth a look. Now, if only Hollywood would do a vampire movie based on Brian Lumley's Necroscope series of novels...

I, on the other hand, was profoundly disappointed with this movie. Having first read the book, I was expecting something more than just an action movie. I was disappointed...
It seems that sometimes the very best books and short stories are made into some of the absolutely worst movies. A prime example is the William Gibson short story "Johnny Mnemonic," one of the finest short stories ever set to pen. It was made into the Keanu Reeves movie of the same name that was maybe the most painfully bad movie ever made (although there are a plenitude of other contenders).
Ah well...

Who knew "Ol Abe" was the 15th president. Is that why he's on the Five dollar bill?

I forgot about this movie, saw it in the theater. I liked it fine, but was surprised when my buddy, he with a more discerning taste, heard from the reviews he trusts that it was a solid entry. I think I'll go buy it tonight.

I liked it ,but the book was way better! And I think that that's the crux of why I didn't like the movie. Having read the book first, I expected a much more nuanced movie. Instead, I got an action flick.

Most of the time the book is better. One of the few experiences I've had where the movie rivals the book is The Lord of the Rings series.

I never read the book but my friend says he has. He was disappointed in the movie. I guess this is one time I glad I didn't read the book cause I loved the movie.

I watched this last week interesting storyline. Overall I thought it was very entertaining. I would give it 4 out of 5 for being original the good acting. Mixing history with a vampire killing president awesome. Too bad they can't make a sequel. Oh wait I am sure hollywood can somehow make one if it made enough money. Lol

I actually really liked it; trying to get my teens to watch, they ain't having it. I did watch it in my HT but on my Samsung 55" LED, video sent direct, audio with USP, UPA and x-ref 10 sent to two UAW 8.2. It was awesome; the 8.2's sitting on the floor no less.
I have to remount my TV. When the UMC-200 arrives, I'll have the 8.2s rear channels plugged in too. I don't have a solution for the center channel yet (little room under TV and top of mantel).

I was prepared to not like this movie...but I loved it! Great premise and historical tie ins.
As for the book being better...I didn't read the book so that didn't hold me back!
