What are your opinions on this combination?? Would the 8 or maybe a 10 fill in the punch while the 12 handles the lows??

I don't want to jump in, unless this music's thumping

No reason you couldn't use 2 different size subs. Just think of your regular main speakers, they use different size drivers. It would be nice if you could set the crossovers independently.

Also no reason a 12" can't provide punch. The size of the subwoofer diaphragm does not determine it's frequency response, only the amount of available output.

Well an 8" will have trouble giving you low bass punching compared to a 12" at a given distance but in saying that a 10" is great at giving mid bass punch and the 8" is better for upper mid bass at reasonable output . You can use them to reinforce your music ,movie experience , but placement and crossover would be key to harmonizing the two or three
