Those look great. Can all the lights on the front be dimmed?

One thing that would be interesting to hear Big Dan or Lonnie's thoughts on would be the XPR-1 design aesthetics. Jim was mentioning comparing this XPR-1 to the Levinson monoblock (assuming the No 53) in another thread. That amp stand "vertical", as do the Theta monoblocks. I just thought it would be cool to be able to "stand" these next to the big speakers they are driving. I get the economies of scale by making all of the XPR amps have the same exact housing. But still, i just think it would be cool if Emo designed a monoblock that stands vertically for near speaker placement. As it is, I love the aesthetics of the XPR series, but a vertical XPR would have been soooo cool. Maybe in 3-5 years when they come out with the XPR mkII.

Those look great. Can all the lights on the front be dimmed? assuming they are like the XPR-5, they can not only be dimmed but completely off is an option as well (except for the very small dot-like light above the standby button).

Those look great. Can all the lights on the front be dimmed? If they have the same front panel features as my XPR-5, then yes, all of the lights can be totally shut off.

Those look great. Can all the lights on the front be dimmed? This should be the same as the XPR-1, XPR2 - other than the number of chanels displayed. There are dimmer settings and the ability to turn portions off.

That's good if they can be switched off. I'm on a "kill all the lights" spree in my system right now.

That's good if they can be switched off. I'm on a "kill all the lights" spree in my system right now. I love the big "E" button with halo lighting, which the XPR series doesn't have. I know that a number of people complained about the E logo lighting. So if you're on a kill the lights spree, the XPR will fit in very nicely. I don't miss it too much, because the XPR looks pretty nice.

i'm sure 1750 watts at 4ohms is great. but just as a novice here, can someone explain why you'd want or need that much power? isn't it possible to damage your speakers? -- forget about your ears.

Many more speakers are damaged by under power, the clipped signals burn up the tweeters first.Transients in the track can place huge but brief power demands on the amp,if the amp can not produce this because of lack of power it will clip. from my experience a large robust amp makes an equally large difference in sound quality even at modest volume levels. IMHO it's really not about how loud but how real it sounds and i firmly believe ya can't have too much power. any help from the smart guys would be appreciated here here's a good link: www.axiomaudio.com/power

George, these amps don't go to "11"...they START there!
As for vertical mounting vs. regular...I prefer wall mounted! (see my Hypex build thread if you are not "in" on my little fun...)

Will Emotiva ever release an amp with some decent power? I know, right? You'd think by now the Emotiva folks would have delivered a bonkers amplifier that knocked our socks off. I have a hunch that the Emo folks often get wrapped up listening to Matt's TT~1. ...these amps don't go to "11"...they START there! I think this should be the official Emotiva Reference Series marketing slogan!
