Will Emotiva ever release an amp with some decent power? I want higher amperage for arc welding...... Maybe I can pair up 2 XPR-1s for that?

i'm sure 1750 watts at 4ohms is great. but just as a novice here, can someone explain why you'd want or need that much power? isn't it possible to damage your speakers? -- forget about your ears. Many more speakers are damaged by under power, the clipped signals burn up the tweeters first.Transients in the track can place huge but brief power demands on the amp,if the amp can not produce this because of lack of power it will clip. from my experience a large robust amp makes an equally large difference in sound quality even at modest volume levels. IMHO it's really not about how loud but how real it sounds and i firmly believe ya can't have too much power. any help from the smart guys would be appreciated here here's a good link: www.axiomaudio.com/powerThanks. Maybe I'm just jealous!

The XPR-2 incorporates dual differential inputs on each channel... The XPR-1 incorporates a cross-coupled balanced dual-differential input... These sorts of technical terms are really descriptions of design philosophy, and so different engineers often use slightly different terms to refer to the same circuit topology. The important point here is that we're talking about balanced operation, and symmetrical circuitry, which helps to minimize noise and distortion. The circuit will, after all, have the same excellent sound quality no matter how we describe it. On the xpr-2 page it says "It incorporates refined, discrete quad-balanced input circuit topologies with fully complementary high bandwidth power stage design, " Though it doesn't add the words differential power amplifier like it does for the xpr-1. Hmmmm..... Now unlike the other not fully balanced amps which mention dual differential this is quad balanced like the xpa-1. Maybe somebody can enlighten us to the difference.

On the XPR-1 and XPR-2, you can press the Meter Button to switch between LED and Accent Lighting modes: 1) LED Bargraph Meters + Status LEDs + Accent Lighting. 2) Status LEDs only. 3) All lights and LEDs off. 4) Status LEDs only. 5) Status LEDs + Accent Lighting only. In addition, there is a four-step brightness control that applies to all of them. Those look great. Can all the lights on the front be dimmed? If they have the same front panel features as my XPR-5, then yes, all of the lights can be totally shut off.

Then you'd better have REALLY strong walls George, these amps don't go to "11"...they START there! As for vertical mounting vs. regular...I prefer wall mounted! (see my Hypex build thread if you are not "in" on my little fun...) Mark
