The quick way to bump up the sub signal is with the trim buttons on the remote. Have you run EmoQ room correction?

Make sure your not in direct.
Make sure your fronts are not set to large unless you want no bass from the mains to go to the sub.
Check your levels for the sub in umc.
Make sure your sub xover is set to 120hz.

I have a similar problem. The UMC-1's front L+R and RCA subwoofer out was connected to my Parasound 2100's HT bypass inputs. My two subs were connected using the Parasound's RCA sub outs. I could not get any output from the subs while using the UMC-1 with the Parasound in bypass. The Parasound, however put out great bass to both subs from other inputs. I eliminated the Parasound from the chain, connecting one of the subs directly to the UMC-1's subwoofer out using the same interconnect that, moments before, connected the sub to the Parasound. Still no output from the sub. As a last resort before sending it in for repair, I reset the UMC-1 to factory defaults, set the fronts to small etc etc. Nothing worked. Called Tech support, but still could not get the subs working. I sent it in for repair, but Emotiva said it is working fine; they could not replicate the problem and Todd me to check my wiring. I'm still waiting to get it back, but now I'm lost on where the problem is coming from... Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards

how do you set the fronts to small because when I go into speaker size it just gives me crossover and stuff like that.. I cant find anything that says small or large?

Setting the crossover to 40 or higher is, in fact, setting them to small. Start with 80 and see if that helps. Below 40 you'll get Full which is Large.
