Yeah the XPA-1 Gen 2 are VERY tempting, but the huge form factor doesn't work with my setup, which is the main reason I went with the 1L's. I have also heard the XPA-2 vs UPA-1 with the same speakers and the XPA-2 sounded better to me. This is coming from a previous UPA-1 owner. It was however a sighted comparison.

Does anyone know XPA-100s number of output devices? Thanks.

I believe that in another thread it was stated 6 output devices like most the other XPA amps. The exceptions I know about being the XPA-2 and XPA-1l being more. I have no clue what the XPA-1 has.

I have the lid off an XPA-1L currently and it looks like 16 to me. From memory the XPA-100 has 12.

I just purchased a set of the xpa 100 mono blocks to run my modified Dalhqusit-dq 10's. I'm using a xda1 dac,erc1 cd player and a set of xpa -100. The mono block amps are the best ps I have used on the DQ10'S in 30 yrs. They are smooth when needed for classical music. Also have a big punch for rock, heavy metal music. They are keepers for me.

The XPA-100's are a quality monoblock amplifier, very much under rated. While I was doing some service work on 4 x XPA-1L's I had my XPA-100 driving one front channel and 1 x XPA-1L driving the other and I couldn't really pick the difference in Class AB. You made a good choice, enjoy. Cheers Gary

What does the number of output devices do for an amp? I guess the higher the number the better, but do not know what the number means or what it does.

The theory is that the more output devices per channel the faster transient response of the amp.
Does the xpa-100 really have 12 output devices for its one channel? That would equal the xpa-2 per channel.

Hi weber,
First let me welcome you to the emotiva family, and into the lounge. I've been a member since 2011 and it's been a fun experience. The folks here are "special". I always love it when a member buys mono block amps because they automatically become a member of the emotiva secret mono block society, more on that later. Great audio products at a reasonable price, great customer service, and a great group of people to enjoy your experience with. I'm sure you will be hearing from a few of the other members of the secret mono block society. I personally think the XPA-100 is one of emotiva's biggest secrets. They are stupid good. Sush! Come on in, make some friends, enjoy! j

On another note my brother use to own a pair of DQ10's back in the day. That was my first exposure to the phased array open baffle speakers. Up to that point all the speakers I had ever heard were in a box. As I remember they were quite good. It was well over thirty years ago. Great to hear you have a pair and are still enjoying them. If you're interested pm me so we can discuss a tube preamp to go with those XPA-100's

I am not going to give a "review." I have only heard the XPA-100's in my system with my ears in my room. A few years ago, I got interested in separates/"high-end" and discovered Emotiva on the internet - imagine that. I started by getting their speakers - the highly under-rated XRT 6.2 floorstanders. Many people wax poetic about how great the Emotiva 8.3 speakers sound and I am sure they are based on how good the nest generation 6.2 speakers sound. They are no slouch and it would cost a lot more than I paid for them to obtain better sounding speakers in my opinion. No doubt, I will purchase other speakers in the future but I am not in any rush to replace these. I was powering them with a 1980's Realistic receiver which was only rated for 50 watts per channel 8 ohms. Although the speakers sounded great compared to the old 3 way speakers I was using previously, I could not turn up the volume without clipping. So, I ordered an XDA-2 DAC and the economical and discontinued UPA-200 2 channel amp. Okay, now the speakers sounded great and I had the needed power. I may have been satisfied with that for a while but apparently I had become an Emotiva addict and I ended up purchasing two XPA-100's to use instead of the UPA-200. I still have the UPA-200. The XPA-100's took it to another decibel level however both amps run cool, produce clean, dynamic sound and are dead silent between cd tracks - like a black hole. Can you say .02 distortion at full rated power ? I seriously doubt many people will be displeased with the "entry-level" XPA-100s. I do not know the number of output devices and I do not care at this point. I can spend more money later. The XPA-100's are the bomb, the sh*t and everything else. Unless you have speakers with a Tyrannosaurus appetite for power, you will love them. This has NOT been a paid spokesperson. Enjoy !

Emo makes great sound affordable and I love my pair of XPA-1 monoblocks in my 7.1 system. Waiting on the XMC-1 to arrive, to crown my set up, I hear a lot of people are getting it for 2 channel as well !

Weber hear, update on my system. I just couldn't resist the summer sale on a dc-1 dac. After the set up and one day of listening it is amazing sounding over the xda1 dac. It pairs very well with the xpa 100 mono blocks. The DQ10'S are singing wonderfully. They have never sounded this good.Jon Dalhqusit would love to hear them now.Long live all the Dahqulist speakers of yester yrs.
