Also if i was to get this sub how do I hook it up to my receiver with impact 10 there was an lfe on this sub I don't see that I also let my receiver do the cross over how to do that with this sub also thanks in advance.

Regarding connections, it says: "Connect your X-Ref 12 to the subwoofer” or “LFE” output on your source equipment (preamp or home theater pre/processor)." Hope this helps, H.

Hi
I owned a velodyne impact 10 . Its a pretty good starter subwoofer. but it doesnt go low as the xref12 ( 20Hz‐200Hz ). so the response will be different.
IMPACT 10-( 32-140 Hz (+/-3 dB)
The response from Xref12 will be more than Velodyne impact 10
The quality of bass depends on multiple factors , size of the room and position of the subwoofer. Its all a personal choice. You can add one more Velodyne impact -10 and see the difference in quality. Cross over each of the front speakers with the subs. Sometimes it gives a good blend in the bass response.
IF you are planning to add one more IMPACT-10 ,make sure the subs are kept near to the front speakers and experiment the bass response. Move the sub around and try different spots.
Hope this helps
Finally we all move up , I started with a Yamaha subwoofer, then I bought velodyne and now a Rythmik, its a addictive disease.

A friend of mine has the Velodyne and it's not a bad sub but it's not very musical to my ear. It's more suited to delivering the punch of an exciting audio sound effect from a movie. My x-ref, once I got it tuned correctly, may not deliver earth shattering bass but the sound effects are still felt and heard at their relative frequencies. What I like best about the x-ref is it's ability to provide that clean, musical bass to my music. I haven't lived with a Velodyne sub so my comments may be somewhat one-sided but I can't discount how well my x-ref provides that bass needed to lift the mids and highs up and to the front of the soundstage. I do believe I can still rattle the pictures on my wall with the x-ref too. I think I need to test that theory.

Thanks fellas I purchased the xref, set it up, and it is a major difference to my ear used. I used the opening scene of avengers right before loki first arrives and it sounds great.
