Thinking of getting one but am interested in the heat it generates because I may need to place it in a built in cabinet with limited ventilation. Thanks

im not sure of the exact temp but you will be fine putting it in a cabinet

I agree, I doubt heat will be an issue. When placed in a cabinet however, depending on the dimensions and configuration, it could play havoc with the room interaction and frequency response.

Thanks, guys, for the responses. As for placement, yes, I know it sounds dubious but I don't have a lot of choice in the matter and I actually have an older (NHT) subwoofer in the cabinet now. It sounds pretty good from that location but I realize it may be far from ideal. The NHT's amplifier is in a separate enclosure, so the heat it generates (not much) is a non-issue and I just wanted to check on how much heat the xref-12 would generate.

Is your cabinet pretty solid? Id worry about annoying vibration sounds. Ive seen somewhere where someone did the same thing but he surrounded the sub with pillows(or acoustic paneling, dont remember).
