Looks as though everything is going A-ok which is awesome, I'm interested in the culprit here...maybe something happened while being shipped...?

I have a friend that has bought a lot of Paradigm among other items from Audio One, he got me the deal. Of course it's Piano Finish it has to match my 100's.. To Blindsay glad things are working quickly for you.. So far so good, if it was the amp that killed his speaker then I guess no one is safe, but im hopeing it was a huge fluke if it did.. I just picked up Studio 100's V5 used from a friend that never really used them at all.. I got them for $2000 in Piano Finish..not a mark on them.. I just ordered my CC-690 I should get it by the end of the week. Up here they cost $4000 retail and the 690 is $2000 I got mine for $1600 all in. Yes I think they are worth it they sound Great, my other buddy has the 60's he came over to listen and just started smiling.. so the tweeters are not blowing on the xpa 5 amp? what store did you buy the cc690 at is it pblack too? for 1600 good friend you have ... cheers

He may have been referring to the Polks. I know in the photo another lounge member posted which caught my memory of this crossover flaw you could see just how crammed in there the crossover board was. Looks like some of the wiring was VERY closely knit, and my guess it that a wire that was stripped 1/4" too far back, or rubber against another, or a soldering whisker is likely the culprit here. I gotta ask ya, if Polk gives you free replacements for the tweeters/crossovers and doesn't ask for the old parts to be returned,.... would you mind if I dissected? =o) Perhaps if you want an upgraded crossover we could take our time and modify your current blown one. Just a thought,.... =o) (bring them to my dungeon of Jekyll and Hyde for electronics doom!!!)

On a side note my XPA-3 and A100 mini arrived from the warehouse sale that was recently. The XPA-3 is just chilling till my UPA-1 gets back but the mini is hooked up to a pair of Cerwin Vega LS-12's in my bedroom/computer setup. at 98dB/1W this mini is plenty of power for them lol

Hey all, this is probably a question really only for those familiar with the LSi series but her it goes.
I am trying to trace what actually died on the crossover and I am using my multimeter in short/open so it just makes a tone if there is a connection.
With one end of the multimeter In the negative speaker terminal I get a tone (indicating a connection) with the other end in +w -d2 -t
moving the multimeter to the positive speaker terminal I get a tone only on -w
I started tracing it and confirmed the resistor along the tweeter is dead but it doesn't explain the other weird readings, or does it?

That rack looks nice, where did you get it from?
Did they tell you what happened to the upa-1?

So the thinking is that it was just a blown xover? Maybe pulled the resistance way down and the upa just dumped power into it.

Before hooking them up I would replace the cable that was running to that speaker.

Maybe pulled the resistance way down and the upa just dumped power into it. tweeter was blown as well True, though that might have happened when power got dumped through it. I'd definitely think about the speaker cables, at least depending on their gauge. If they are really large I wouldn't worry too much.
