I have a recent issue crop up. When I hit the power button on the remote, it turns on for a second and immediately turns off. I then wait about 5 seconds and try it again and it stays on just fine. This has been going on for a week, any others have this happen?

This never happend to me. Do you hear the relay clicking ? Does the volume start ramping up or does it close down before that already ?

I Think my SR-8100 died on me today :-( When i turn it on i see the display for 1 second and then its gone and nothing happens. After 5 seconds i hear the relay clicking and then nothing. Then it switched back off again. Then i removed the power cord and waited for a minute or so, then plugged it back in and i switched the knob on the back of the receiver and i saw the LED was a bit flickering. after 10 seconds nothing happens but then there was sound coming out of all my speakers like it was on a 100 hz tone

Sounds like there's definitely something not-good going on.

This never happend to me. Do you hear the relay clicking ? Does the volume start ramping up or does it close down before that already ? Sorry, I forgot to come back to this post! It clicks once and immediately closes down. The red light flashes a few times, and then goes solid red, at that point it allows me to power it on. Not a huge issue, but a bit of an annoyance. I'm wondering when it just won't fire up at all. So, I probably should send it in.

sounds like you have either a termination issue or a sound issues.. I've seen this issue crop up on my denon avr, past a certain db it shuts down, also monitor the HDMI board as they can have habit to fail when you least want it too..
this problem plagues everyone

It only happens when I first power it up. Once it is on it is fine.

I have had the same problem(2x) with my SR-8100. Hit the power button and the blue light goes on for a split second and then turns off. The red light flashes a couple of times and then turns solid red. Try and power it on again. Blue light flashes for a split second and then goes off. Never actually powers on any more. Sent it in the beginning of June and Emotiva replaced the capacitor on the power supply pcb. Got it back and it started doing the same thing all over again. It is back getting repaired for the same thing a second time. Emotiva has been great throughout this process. They sent me a pre-printed shipping label so that I would not have to pay for shipping a second time. Hopefully I will hear soon what the status is.

On my second fusion 8100. The first pop when going from one function to the next with a remote. Emotiva stepped up and quickly sent a new unit. My second unit has buzz at all times. I know some one will point out that it's my home circuitry but I haven't had the issue with my mmc1- into my IPA-1 or with an other brand av receiver I tried. Been trouble shooting without luck-changing my ac cords, line conditioner, outlets, etc. I wonder if they will send another replacement. I may have to go with a emc or get a Yamaha Rx 1030 or1040.

I am still brainstorming on if there is a way to hook up an mono or 2 channel amp for the fronts. What about those Mix outputs, in the manual it says :
Provides a stereo unbalanced analog output that is the stereo mixdown of the surround sound source currently playing in the main zone. The Mix Output is variable, and is controlled by the Main Zone Volume setting.
Does this mean the sound is only the surround channels ? Or is is all 5 channels mixed into 2 ? Or am I just making things up and should be forgetting about ever hooking up any extra amp on the sherbourn some way to give my front channels more power ?

Old thread, but I have a SR8100 doing the same thing now. Red light flashes and the unit turns off. The second try it always turns the unit on. I've had it since 4/2013 with no issues until now. Sounds like service is the only option? I am not sure what the warranty even was since the product page has disappeared.

The SR-8100 came with a 5-yr warranty, so you should still be good.

I thought the Sr-8100 came with a 10 year warranty for the original owner but dropped to five if you sold it. Nevertheless give them a call they're great. I had the same problem and I had it back within a week. Good as new!
