Thanks for confirming what yours do "normally", zmaxtt! Long day at work today, will call Emotiva tomorrow to get their thoughts. My xpa1s behaved the same way your working one does upon startup. Solid last thunk before they were ready to play...

Well, everyone, thanks for your input and help. I finally got around to calling Emotiva today at 1-877-EMO-TECH. I spoke with Keith and he said based on what we talked about, he suspected a fuse or fuses, as well. He said on the XPA-1 they are behind a "trap door" on the bottom of the amp, and in there are two 10 amp fuses and a 200 milliamp which he said "never blows". He said if one of the 10 amp fuses was blown, change them both, anyway, and make sure to use slo-blow fuses. I flipped the amp over and "trap door" is probably four inches square and has over a dozen screws on it. In taking it off, remove only the perimeter screws, as once those are loose you can wiggle the trap door and all the parts still attached to it through the bottom panel of the amp and out into the open enough to see the fuses. Just as Keith said, the small fuse was fine but the 10 amp pair were both smoked. I replaced both with new ones from Radio Shack, put everything back together and as of now plugged it back in with nothing else connected. The old "Ka-thunk" is now back so I suspect I will be back in business with sound once I hook everything back up. I tried to take photos of the fuses and the trap door area, and as this is my first time attaching images through the forum, not sure if they will upload, as nothing is showing up when I preview. If anyone needs any further info or clarification, just shoot me a reply. Thanks again, everyone! Attachments:

Great news! I thought they were where emo said, but that was going from memory and I didn't trust my memory.
