If you'd like a really good rock test track, try Sting's "Desert Rose." Great bass, challenging vocals, full-range fidelity on the CD. A surprisingly difficult track for most systems. Nice review, sounds like the XPRs are great amps. Thanks David, I have that song and its a fav. But thats not rock, it's pop. I was talking a bit more about the heavier side of things, prog rock, classic rock, metal, et al..

Nice write up. Makes me want to put addition on the house, so I would need that kind of power.
About rock, did you try something from early Heart or Alice and Chains?

If you want a heavier test track, try anything from Soul Fly or "Hell Awaits" by Slayer or "Countdown to Extinction" by Megadeth. "Snap your Fingers Snap your Neck" by Prong is well recorded. If you want something with big bass, how about "The Move" or “Intergalactic” or “Shake Your Rump” by Beastie Boys? Also try nearly any track from Bjork.

Their Unplugged album sounds FANTASIC on my XPR-1's.

No Alice, but at David's suggestion I listened to Army of Me by Bjork and it was great. These amps will however expose your systems weaknesses. They like good recordings, good source electronics and good wire... The devil is in the details and if he's there, these amps will find him...

Guys, I need to go into rehab. I now have a third XPR-1 and an XPR-2. My XPR-5 has been sold.

I have a xpr-5, a pair of xpa-1's, and a pair of xpa-1l's coming back for a third time. I will give my review when i have the 1l's back and i have heard them for a few days. As of right now i personally prefer the sound of the xpa-1's over the sound of my xpr-5, but that's just my opinion of course. Time will tell once i get the 1-l's which of the three i like best.

I can't believe you know that Prong song "Snap your fingers snap your neck" I used to play that all the time when I DJ'ed at the Gentleman's Club...
