Near the end, my friend tried to "con" Big Dan into selling us the XPR-7. Dan went running over there like we were trying to take his baby and said "No! That's my engineering sample and the only one I got! You can't have that." Sorry, guys, we tried to get one for all of mankind.

I wouldn't think that it would be any different than the Sherbourn.

Definitely agree, the pictures of under the hood look quite similar. Seems logical considering the same size psu and output but then why produce the same with just a new faceplate and was wondering This mention steers me towards a different output stage or something intrinsically different - a different grade of capacitance ? "No! That's my engineering sample and the only one I got! You can't have that." Whatevers the cheapest will tend to cannibalise sales from the other as a consequence possibly ..

In the jungle, the mighty jungle... ;D Then again class H amps are thin on the ground and with arcams wimpy p1000 effort either version is a bargain

Jeez... How tall is that thing like 8ru? ... It was the same chassis / height as the other XPRs.

Some people still bought the Cadillac Cimeron/Catera. Don't forget the Pontiac Sunfire/Chevrolet Cavalier or the Toyota/Subaru sports cars that just came out. Brand management has been around forever. Sure, there'll be a cost difference between the two; but a very slim cost difference.

Thats logical ; will be interesting to see how the xpr is/ or if its discounted from time to time . Not up to speed on those car models [except the japanese ones ] but some of our holdens were recently badged as cadillacs so can definitely see where your coming from

So does this mean that the XPR-7 *might* come to market? The XPR-7 was demoed years ago at an Emofest, so I suspect that it's just the same chassis/unit.
But..........since it got posted, I figure there was some reason to post it??? (why would you post a shelved product?)
I just ask because the extra channels of the 7 (vs 5) are so useful!
Erg. Not a peep since April though. That stinks.

NICE! The MSRP before doing direct was quite different! I'm a little reluctant to buy a Sherbourn amp - since it wouldn't match my other 5 Emo amps.... (I'm working on a fully active setup, so the amps would actually be in proximity. If they were scattered in the house, I wouldn't care) Hmmm.. Tempting though. That price is actually reasonable! All Emotiva would need to do is stick it in an Emo case, Perhaps that's in the works? As much as I like the "integrator friendly" cosmetic simplicity of Sherbourn, the XPR series meters are quite cool.
