A busy upgraditis month. moved into a new house and was able to separate the HT from the 2 channel listing. First time in over 10 years having a true 2 channel area. HT needs definitely dictated my buying these past years. in chronological order. old TT cheap Pioneer one to Clearaudio emotion TT old amp: Parasound HCA855 (biamp) to Emotiva XPA-3 (wish it was a XPA2/XPA1/XPA1L - upgraditis will return here I'm sure) old speakers: Totem Sttaf to Spendor A6 added Mirage MM8 sub from HT added Outlaw ICBM-1 bass management for sub old pre Audio Refinement Pre5 to Cary SLP-03 on the lookout for a new sub to replace the Mirage in the HT or a better musical one for the 2channel area. Plus a DAC. Currently v1 of the Musical Fidelity V-DAC lastly will be cleaning up wiring and moving the equipment to where the LP's are now. leaving speakers and the amp in the middle. Plan to build some custom shelving and get a Knoll bench or Nelson bench in-between the speakers for guest to sit on. This is a living room. Have to remember that. Attachments:

I've taken over my living room and the design and furniture is based on 2 channel listening with a bit of flexibility for using as a living room 1-2 times a month for guests it's a big open concept room into the kitchen, hence needing the sub just to add an extra 10Hz lower than the Spendors are capable. chose not to put a TV on the main floor and dedicate it to cooking, reading, relaxing and music. it's working, kid watches less and is slowing enjoying music in her entertainment needs. LOVES the idea of the turntable. I really forgot how grand 2 channel can become. I'm amazed every time I turn it on how much bigger the soundstage is now, but more importantly, how much more natural it is. Wasting hours here seems more productive than sitting in front of the HT. I finished the HT within weeks of moving in. New plasma, new on wall speakers, installation on wall and just reusing old gear from the prior HT . Very little challenge to make it good enough. 2 Channel is definitely more challenging to do well on a budget. But that's half the fun.

A dedicated music system, in it's own room is FANTASTIC!i not a true 2 channel room. Actually that sounds a lot like my set up. I meant dedicated music system as NOT being integrated into the HT. Wasting hours here seems more productive than sitting in front of the HT. Couldn't agree more! I finished the HT within weeks of moving in. New plasma, new on wall speakers, installation on wall and just reusing old gear from the prior HT . Very little challenge to make it good enough. 2 Channel is definitely more challenging to do well on a budget. But that's half the fun. Same with me! Had to do the HT immediately or the wife and kids might revolt. But the 2 channel in the living room has been incredibly enjoyable. i haven't enjoyed music as much since the mid 80's. ...
