Lonnie and Keith,
Thanks for the lessons, very informative. It's nice that Lonnie can spend some time here, and keep it simple, and Keith can delve in deeper to tutor us.

The short answer is NO. The specs are NOT Kosher. A Rabbi was NOT involved in the building or testing of this amplifier.

What most people don't realize is that they will NEVER tap into the 'continuous' part of a power rating. Unless they are holdovers from the late 60s and listen to sine waves at Ear Shattering levels. I've seen several answers here refer to 'duty cycle' which I understand to be periods of high draw mixed in with periods of lesser draw....to the power supply. The other way to look at it is from the MUSIC side and realize that music has loud parts which might be 10db or greater above the AVERAGE level for that tune. 30 watts continuous with a 12 db crest factor is about 500 watts in peaks. It's just my opinion but the dynamic headroom of an amp is more important than the sheer RMS rating. Even my very low sensitivity Magnepans will drive you out of the room at 30 watts per panel, while some more sensitive speakers......anything over say....89db/watt/meter will annoy the neighbors......3 doors down. At the same 30 watts per speaker. The original Klipsch Corner Horn would make LOTS of sound with 5 watts and have the police knocking on your door with 30 watts.
