Gotcha, double check to see that the wasapi mode is enabled in media monkey. It occurs to me that whatever you did with the windows sound in regards to dual output (one for windows sound and one for WASAPI mode) may have messed something up. So Are you using USB or SPDIF for the xda-2? Have you installed the driver for the xda-2?
1. Undo whatever you did specifically with the windows sounds coming from a different device that you were trying to tackle in the first post. We can go ahead and try to fix that issue later. We have to make sure that WASAPI works first.
2. I think in the control panel in windows (start->control panel-> sound ->playback devices) there are multiple devices which carry the xda-2 name, one being WASAPI push and the other being WASAPI event. First if you have a check mark that says do not use any other devices other than default or something like that click that. Then click "set as default" for either WASAPI push or event whatever it is, it must say XDA-2. I assume you are using USB. If that doesn't work, select set as default for wasapi event.
3. I may be getting mixed up as to where you can select this, but anyway, media monkey may also have two different WASAPI modes WASAPI push or event. Select the same one as you selected in windows (if that's available). Then try a high definition file. If that doesn't work, select the other wasapi mode and retry. If that doesn't work.

^^^If all that doesn't work...call Emotiva (not email). Ask to speak to Keith. He seems to be the guy to talk to regarding the xda-2.

You may need to update your motherboards drivers too to support wasapi modes. Press start, type in windows update and update your windows. Then if it still doesn't work you may have to find out your model of the motherboard/soundcard from your computer manufacturers website and then download the driver from the motherboard maker itself.

I am using the SPD/IF out of the computer. Do I need to install the drivers since I am not using USB ?

Having never used MediaMonkey, I loaded it up this morning. With these settings all works fine for me to my XDA-2:

cfelliot and garbulky, I din' have the second box checked, after checking it the XDA-2 displayed the right Freq Ok so i started a new problem this morning. LOL last night everything was playing fine (except for the issue you guys addressed) every other song on playback has a buzzing to it. Yes, no crap If I select the track or MM does it in shuffle every other track has a buzz. I did a master reboot of the computer and problem still exists. Does this make any sense. Should I try connecting the XDA to my amp? It makes no sense electrically that the pre-amp would cause a buzz every other track but I have seen crazier in my lifetime. It makes more sense that Media Monkey may be causing this or something in the XDA is not switching properly but I haven't had any issues so far with the XDA The drivers for the xda are for USB I am running SPD/if Optical do you thing I need to install them anyways just in case there is more to them than what it seems. I think I'll call Keith just to make sure. I really appreciate the help you guys have given. If you are ever in the middle of nowhere AKA Danville, il I can definately buy a round or 6 of your favorite beverage !!

If you are using SP/DIF, there is absolutely no reason to install the XDA-2 drivers which are for USB.

I talked to keith this morning at length, The drivers are USB only and no need to download them.
I connected the XDA-2 to my amp directly and no change I have buzzing every other song
I uninstalled Media Monkey and re-installed it and yes the buzzing every other song still exists
The sound is a type of buzz but sounds like a radio station not quite in tune with static. I actually was able to play this for keith over the phone and he agreed it sounded like radio static.
Gonna try a few things but any ides suggestions would be great !!

Interesting that the buzz is present on every other song! Have you tried switching off all other electronics and other appliances that may be on the same circuit? Another thing is to try different cables. Is the buzz there if you play only songs on the computer? I know... every other song.. so my suggestions may not make sense but it won't hurt to try these things.

Ok !!! Update 16 LOL
I have downloaded J river free trial Works like a champ !!! Now I will have to part with nearly 50 bucks in 30 days. Oh well was going to buy one anyway after I ran and experimented.
Media Monkey uninstalled !! It must have been corrupted somehow, I did uninstall and re-install this morn during this fiasco.
Hopefully I won't need to ask for anymore help on this. I appreciate all who chimed in with advice/ideas. I hope to be able to pay it forward in the future
