I asked Emo why wthis was not fixed and I was told that software issues are addressed by customer demand. The more an issue was repeated the higher the priority. Oviously we guys who would like to have a working PEQ as promised are few or did not yell loud enough. If that excuse is true, it is the lamest thing I've heard for a while. I guess selling broken products is fine if only a small percentage of folks complain about it. Just look at the horrendous headphone performance. No problem, very few people listen to headphones. Funny, though. Only one person complained about the PLIIx mode having too much surround delay. Yet it got fixed. How does that fit with this "loudest wheel gets the grease" process? Look at the positive side. Considering the number of complaints on the software loader, it ought to golden next time!

Not lamer than: -we don't allow the display to turn completely off because too many people called customer service thinking their unit was broken when they saw no display on.

Exactly what part of their customer-demand-driven strategy do you classify as "lame excuse"?

I am disappointed too. I took the time to Report a lot of Problems and suggestions - Emotiva listened to no one. Thanks for nothing... Also the new bug: is annoying as hell for me using a HTPC for FLAC-playback. With the old FW it wasn´t a Problem to Transfer PCM as 5.1 - now I always have to fiddle with the volume switching between Stereo and movies. Things I suggested and which were not fixed / changed: - No PEQ for surround back - More PEQ bands for the subwoofer. The product page still says 11 bands per channel... - Ability to Display Speaker distance in meters - Ability to Change volume Display to relative - Put the 2 line Display to use - no one Needs to Display the Name of his source and the Input of it at the same time. Why can´t there be the Name of the source and the Audio Format for example? - no more blue but a black Background when Signal is lost... I am pretty disappointed - in my case the old FW was even better! I also liked the popup with black background and the old font and fontsize more. EDIT: Sorry I forgot one improvement - the UMC-200 boots 2-3 seconds faster now. I was able to lower the delay of my harmony for switching the source in the activities by 2 seconds.

I have been playing with my power on delay and haven't found the correct amount.
What are the settings working for you?

Hi, I have set 8 seconds delay for General powerup of the device. That works, with the old FW I needed 10 seconds.
So In every activity I first Switch on the UMC, then do everything with the other devices involved (TV, source, lighting) and then the last Thing Happening is the UMC switching to the correct Input. Works pretty good this way.

Volume resumes at the volume it was turned off at. No longer ramps up slowly. +1 Are you sure the volume isn't still ramping up to last setting on power on? I upgraded fw and mine is still ramping. If someone could please confirm. thanks! I can confirm that the ramp up is still there, but is much quicker. The display "shows" the last volume setting at startup, then ramps to that setting very quickly. At least that is how "mine" is behaving..... Weird. Mine turns on, does the loading stuff, then volume is set to what it was turned off at. No ramping. I mean, this was a feature I really really wanted. I'm not touching anything if it's not supposed to be this way because I was so sick of having to do it manually everytime because when my remote changed the input it would stop the volume ramping.

There are still Dolby Digital bitstreams where the UMC-200 displays "No Audio".
The new OSD is a real pain and a step back in my opinion. In most cases I am not able to read the blend in GUI anymore.

My volume starts at zero when the UMC-200 boots up. I think it's because my Harmony remote is sending an input command while starting the activity which causes it to stop the ramp up.

What?? Exactly what part of their customer-demand-driven strategy do you classify as "lame excuse"? Denying features based on people who are too stupid or lazy to read a manual.

I've not had this problem on the the new firmware, could you be a bit more specific about which Dolby Digital bitstream from what dvd/blu-ray or what set top box is this happening with? If I can replicate it, I'll be glad to confirm if I can.

It would be really nice if Emo would publish an Official Bug Fix & Enhancements list. It should never be up to the product's owners to create and maintain such a list. Emo's years-long failure to do so with ANY of their products leads me to believe that they do not use one internally. And that is truly sad...

Especially noticed it a few days ago with HD contend of the original "Star Trek" - series, as well as "Star Trek TNG". The UMC-200 also sometimes displays "No Audio" for 2 channel PCM from the tv.

Does this "No Audio" displayed the entire time on these shows? Is there an audio playing when it displays the "No Audio"? I'm just curious 'coz on my unit, so far the only time I've seen it display "No Audio" is during transition (e.g., changing channel or audio format) of the material I'm watching and only for a brief moment.

That has been my experience. 'No Audio' appears to remain displayed longer than necessary, but subsequently will show the correct audio mode.

Just to add to the discussion. I also get a 'No Audio' since the upgrade. PS3 -> HDMI(via bitstream) but only for DTS-MA tracks like on the new James Bond or Avengers Blu-Ray. Didn't happen on the original software of the 200.

I just upgraded today from UMC-1 to UMC-2 for the simple fact that it supports CEC. I loved the feature with my Yamaha receiver and it worked flawlessly. When I ordered today, the sales person had little confidence or supporting advice as far as CEC goes and basically told me don't be surprised if it doesn't perform as it should. Does anyone here have any advice or feedback on the reliability of CEC with this unit? I'm simply wanting control between my Samsung HDTV, PS3 and the new UMC-200 with the Samsung remote. I almost just bought a Harmony but figured at the price upgrading to the newer unit would be a wiser choice. Main issue is my other half was used to using the Samsung TV remote to do everything and all I got was griping about new stuff. Hopefully this keeps the peace or I'll be building a man cave. Wait, that's not a bad thing. Lol...Thanks in advance for any and all feedback!

Didn't happen on the original software of the 200. Has this been fixed? I'm also using PS3 as my main source of media. I had the exact same issue and have posted a few times in this forum about it. I have a PS3 Slim (which is key since the original PS3 fat doesn't pass the MA tracks via bitstream). Mine works now after I loaded the update via new instructions I received from support: PS3 settings Video settings: BD/DVD upscaler normal Video Output Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr Cinema Auto 1080p 24Hz off Dynamic Range Auto BD/DVD Audio out Bitstream Display settings: Video output 1080p Audio Auto Cross Color off RGB full range limited Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr SuperWhite off Deep Color off Sound Settings: Audio output auto Audio Multi-output off If you are still having problems. You need to try the last resort Firmware loading method. As you did before, with the UMC OFF. Open TW_AVR loader, open file, click Re-programming, ALL boxes checked, Start (don’t do anything to the pop-up box). Then turn on the UMC. Good Luck. Let me know.
