I'm currently seeing the same message as was there from launch? This product is not currently in stock. If you pre-order the ERC-3 now, we expect to be shipping by December 13.
Cheers Gary

Cheers Gary Huh, you're correct. That's new. The past few days where it says 'preorder' it has said unavailable.

I look forward to getting my ERC-3. Supposed to ship out around the 13th of December. I really enjoy my ERC-2 so I welcome the addition of a drawer on the ERC-3. Glad now that I was patient and never bought a used ERC-2!

Unfortunately with the long shipping time to Sydney, you guys will be enjoying your ERC-3's days before I do. So I expect lots of reviews please, so I know what to expect when it finally does arrive.
Cheers Gary

It looks like there are still some left.
If you're looking for one, I got the impression there aren't that many left in the Dec 13 shipment (with no ETA for when the next delivery will be after that). I would recommend ordering now - if you're on the fence.

Today (11/23)is says preorder again It was unavailable for pre-order for a few days. As of a few days ago, Sales said they had "a few units left", which is why I recommended others pull the trigger if they really want it.

Stupid question - what exactly does this product bring to the table? Couldn't you buy a universal player like the Oppo, which many here already have? Why would anyone not store music digitally (losslessly) on a network device and play through a media player and DAC with all the convenience that it affords? People still enjoy playing physical media such as CDs, and prefer a dedicated player for this purpose. Pretty simple... Good Points all of them. And I did read this time. the beave

Okay, I can buy the failure argument, even though in the year 2013 the reasoning sounds very thin - A scratched optical disc has as much statistical probability as a corrupt media storage, magnetic or solid state. Still doesn't answer why not buy a device like Oppo that gives you so much more for a bit more money, even if you don't need the functionality. I also assume the majority of what one is paying for is the DAC inside this CD player? Isn't it a better investment to buy a DAC like XDA-2 and then feed it a digital output from any existing player or dirt cheap optical drive? I know, to each his own, but I am trained as an engineer so difficult for me to think like an audiophile, so not questioning anyone just trying to learn. I think that kse answered pretty well. Because sometimes it's nice to stick a physical disc in a drive instead of messing with ripping it and storing it on a hard drive.... and worrying about a drive failure... or some other stupidity. "It just works" Gravi, For me it comes down to this: I've been into audio/music/gear/video since I was 7 years old. Over the years and all the different media formats I saw a pattern, one step forward and two steps backwards. Take the Oppo and other Universal Players, Yes indeed they DO offer an incredible amount of features and the different kind of discs they can play/decode. But when I had my own Universal player (or rather playerS) and a dedicated SACD player I noticed one thing: my ADD doesn't like waiting almost a minute to start playing a cd once I press the 'close' button. In another words, the time it takes Universal players to think and decide what disc it has to play drives me nuts. So I chose to chuck those machines and instead made the conscience decision to find the best RedBook CD player I could afford and then to Enjoy listening to my music instead of worrying about when my latest player is going to become obsolete. I am very comfortable with this decision and the ERC-3. I'm looking forward to putting it up against the NAD 565. I'm not into Home Theatre, I don't want 5.1 or 7.1 or 12.5 or 19.879, I don't care about 3D video, when I want listen to music, I just want to listen and enjoy music. That's all. I'm too old to keep transferring my 'collection' to new formats. the beave

Paypal was charged to credit card once order placed, not sure about direct credit card order. Now I see there is no SACD playback, I might consider cancelling order. I was still holding out some hope for SACD, but straight from the manual ( emotiva.com/resources/manuals/ERC-3_user_manual_v1.pdf): The ERC-3 does NOT play: •DVD-A discs, DVDs, or Blu-Ray discs. •Surround sound content recorded on any type of disc. •Audio files on pre-recorded or computer recorded discs OTHER THAN the ones listed above. • Non-hybrid SACDs (SACDs with only a DSD/SACD layer). • Audio files on computer recorded DVD-R or Blu-Ray discs. Jim, you'll need to get a good universal player for that, probably the Oppo that has so many people on forums excited. One thing though have you tested yourself to see if you can really hear a advantageous improvement to the music played on SACD compared to Redbook CD?? You owe it to yourself to do an honest test and THEN if you can repeatedly pick out a playing SACD from a synced up CD go with the SACD. But if you test out then your gaining Nothing be sticking with the SACD format. the beave

I have nothing invested for or against SACD. I honestly don't care that much - and I don't really want a full blown universal player. I wanted SACD content so that way I could play it - if I bought some or wanted to try some out. It was just a feature I was interested in - that's all. I've already preordered it anyway.
