Hey guys just found out a few minutes ago that my amps are coming tomorrow and i'm worried.. Just last night it came to me that I have no idea if my "glass" shelf tv stand can support the weight of both a XPA-2 and XPA-3 amps?? I found the manual that came with my tv stand and it says nothing about weight limits for the shelfs. Nothing online about it either.. I emailed the company and asked but yet to see a response. Its one of these.. TPT73G29 73” Black TV Stand Can be seen here. www.innovexhome.com/ you have to hunt for it on the left under tv stands.. Wont let me link the product page. Heres a pic of my setup.. I also have another option but it would be ruff with space. I have 2 other component stands that used to be next to the tv years ago that I've been storing. But those shelves are also thick glass. I'll try to find a product link to it and update this thread.. though really not a lot of space to use them.

It's a bit hard to tell by looking at it. Particularly with it being so dark.
What are the surfaces of the shelves? Would this be on the bottom shelves?
Some close ups of the shelves that they would go on, might help a lot. (though getting the info from the manufacturer would be the best.)

Glass shelves. 1/4" thick tempered glass I believe. Theres a metal support bracket running front to back on both top and bottom shelves right under where I would put them. Ones 80lbs put that one on the bottom and could do the same for the 50lbs one or put that one above it.
Put something stronger under the amps above the glass?
Not really interested in taking pics since the shelves are currently dusty.. hehe. Would be cleaned when I have to pull it away from the wall to get back to the power outlet to plug in the CMX-2.
Theres also the option of just slapping them on the shelf behind the tv since its there holding up the center speaker up above the tv but then I wont see the amps.. what fun is that? But a last resort.

Hi eclypse, Stands and Mounts says the lower shelves accommodate up to 100 pounds each. The total weight capacity of the unit is 300 pounds.

Holy crap! Nice find! I looked all over the web and could not find that info on anyones product page for it.
SWEET! Looks like it will be close but I could prob get away with putting the heavy one on the bottom and the XPA-3 on top and the receiver next to it.
SAVED!
THANKS ALOT!

Was just thinking.. I could also reinforce underneath the bottom glass shelf since its all open under there! Shim it up to the glass with something and then I wont have anything to worry about. Then I could put the XPA-2 and 3 next to each other on the bottom shelf.

Then I could put the XPA-2 and 3 next to each other on the bottom shelf. That's exactly what I did when I got the LPA-1. My bottom glass shelf was only rated for 50lbs, cut a couple of pieces of wood to fit snugly, painted them black and shoved them under the shelf.

Every shelf I've bought or made, I've shimmed the bottom shelf so the weight sits directly on the floor. Paint the wood black. Make it fit a couple inches behind the front lip of the shelf. No one will ever see it! ...

The top shelf of a glass TV stand is the thickest since it's expected to hold the weight of a flat-screen TV. The other shelves, however, are also VERY sturdy provided you're gentle when you set things on them. I've used my XPA-2 on all three shelves of my glass TV stand without problems (but my stand is a Bell'oGetti, not a Wal-Mart special). My stand currently supports an XPA-2, a pair of VTL monoblock tube amps (about the same weight combined as the XPA-2) and the following misc. equipment: APC-550 UPS box, Oppo player, ADC equalizer, XDA-1 DAC, USP-1 preamp, ethernet modem, Monster Cable power conditioner, a ton of dust.
Just my two cents... Boomzilla

I had a similar problem with a glass shelf and a XPA-2 and an XPA-3 and I had to add a good deal of additional support including a brace in the middle supporting the glass shelf. I actually had to use a car jack to get the brace under the shelf.

Damn stand has 17" deep shelfs. No freakin way to get those amps in there at 19" deep not including the cables. I'd have to remove the back splash on the stand and had no time for all that. Just slapped them off to the side for now. Of course the wife don't like that look and says put it on the other side! Sure that will be a huge headache as i'll have to get longer RCA cables or just move the receiver over which would involve some serious re wiring. :/

I have a similar stand and used hockey pucks under the bottom glass shelf to support the XPA-5 since it is only rated for 50 pounds. Pucks are exactly 1" thick and very strong.

have you tried pulling your speakers forward in front of the plane of your tv? It may help with your sound. And also getting a stand and putting the center right below the tv. I can understand if it won't work in your situation though... just a suggestion.
