I know much of the back story of The Vacuum Tube Company, but that is not something I am at liberty to share here, Then why even bring it up? Jeez... Good point I guess. Bob has been a good friend for several years now. I felt that the guy complaining about the M400's was calling Bob's character into question a bit and I wanted to point out that nothing could be further from the truth. I do know he had no intention of starting yet another company. He was talked into it by the success he was having selling the 180/240's on Ebay of all places.

Wow, I'm blown away. I was fully expecting to read some crazy comment about how cables made with unicorn tears were the best. Instead: "In my opinion, the high-end audio-cable business is mostly a farce, and in some respects it's based on deception and fraud. The definition of fraud is willfully misleading the public for financial gain, and that's exactly what I believe many of these cable companies are doing. They know it's not real, but they do it anyway. It's unethical, and I deplore it."

His comments seem very self-serving if you ask me...
He then turns to calling everyone in the cable industry frauds... His cables make huge difference but everybody else making the claim is trying to steal money from unsuspecting customers. What respect I did have for ML has just left the building with Elvis.

I thought that was very interesting so I dug a little deeper. List price of his DH Premium 500 speaker cable was $100/meter (unterminated) in 2009. It goes back to my initial comment about marketing.

I like this: ""If you really want to know the truth, try listening to two really good speakers and electronics, then take that money and divide it up 5.1 ways and see what your money will buy you. If you like the 5.1, buy that. If you like the 2-channel, buy that. I'm not advocating one or the other. What I'm saying is that the way the industry is set up now, you're buying six channels of amplification and six speakers, and 99 percent of what you are hearing in a movie is coming from one speaker, the center. Listen for yourself, see what you think. A lot of people find that their money is better spent on two good channels than six mediocre channels."

Now THAT is sweet!

A lot of people find that their money is better spent on two good channels than six mediocre channels." My theater is made up of 9 mid-fi channels (I think they're better than "mediocre"). My Stereo is made up of 2 exceptional channels( I think they're better than "good"). I could triple my investment in my HT and increase my enjoyment 3%. My stereo on the other hand makes me happy with every upgrade. Movies are entertainment. Music is spiritual. My $0.02 ...

I agree 100%... HT is not really about quality sound, but rather quantity of sound. Sure, you want your front channels to be clear, detailed and accurate, but warmth and intimacy never really enter the equation. This is why I always recommend for those with a need to combine two channel and HT to get the best sounding, musical stereo pair they can get and then build out from there.

But, I always recommend that they do everything possible to separate the two. They are two vastly different past times IMHO. They are optimized with different equipment and a vastly different states of mind. The latter being the most important. ...
