I assume your going to use a push-pull arrangement. That ought move a fair amount of air over the amps and should work well. And those Noctua fans are an excellent choice.

Yes, but I need 2 more fan covers for the pull unit. The outside fan cover will be for looks while the inside will be for function.

The other thing I need to find is a 12V trigger relay to fire the fans from the XPA-1L trigger out!
Could be a 12V relay to go into the fan power line or a 120V relay for the fan AC power supply.
Any suggestions are welcome.

Nice idea, but I have to ask: do those amps need a forced air cooling system? How hot do they run?

Nice. You mentioned they were whisper silent. Something tells me you just need one of those bad boys. I had a fan that size and it kept my CPU case nice and cool during heavy consumption 3d games. Thanks for the links. It seems very inexpensive to build.

Awesome job! Gotta love those pricey Noctuas. Looking at that adapter, I assume the fans are running full speed all the time?

Many have said Class A provide the greatest sound possible if done right. I read a review on Class A and they said it provide audible sound improvement but not day and night difference between A/B class. There are more cons than pros when it comes to Class A. These include power being wasted on heat and required massive heat sink to cool them down. Plus, you only get little wattage on class A then it will switch to class A/B when you exceed its rating. Class A/B already provide clean sound and its distortion is inaudible if its high quality so if the listener want more performance I will replace a speaker and fix the acoustic.

Are you in the right thread?

Any suggestions are welcome. I'd probably go the 120V route but your much more adept at that sort of thing than I. You could probably use plastic electrical box and mount and outlet and cover plate with the relay and a jack for the trigger cable inside the box. Have a Cord and plug come out the back of the box and yer done. But I'm quite sure you won't have any trouble coming up with an elegant solution.

Nice idea, but I have to ask: do those amps need a forced air cooling system? How hot do they run? If I had a situation that allowed the amps good air circulation, I wouldn't worry. But, as you can see from the pictures, my rack has very little air space above the stack of 2 XPA-1Ls. As that most of my listened will be in solid Class A with my speakers, I decided better safe than sorry!

You could try using a trigger box by emotiva to drive the fans, its 12v out x 3 and would probably drive one of your fans of each output. I think its the et-3 model. Maybe emo staff could chime in on that

Maybe emo staff could chime in on that I wouldn't have thought that the trigger outs from the ET-3 would have sufficient current to drive the fans. But then again, I'm no expert.

Hello,
- A little help for you...
If you want to make a perfect cooling system, you must know that, hot air is lighter than cold air.
- The hot air rises and cold air (heavy) descends.
This means you have to push the hot air to the top, and it will stay there, keeping the cold air below.
This is the natural dynamic between hot and cold air!
In the case of XPA-1L should be placed on top of the RACK for best dissipation possible.

You are right, CFS. However, keeping the center of gravity low on a rack can help to make it much more stable. And Chuck's push-pull arrangement will provide plenty of airflow to get the job done...
