Hi Garbulky.. you guessed it! xda 2 Bob, congrats on the new XDA-2. It is a very nice DAC. Let us know how the Sony CD player sounds when using the XDA-2 in the signal path. You may want to take a look at the Sherbourn site for the close out pricing on the CD-1 (same as ERC-2) now at just $279. I have an XDA-1 and XDA-2 that I have tested several mid-priced CD players with to see if there would be an improvement in sound quality. I also tried using several different DVD players connected to the DACs to see if that would yield better performance. All of these permutations were compared against the sound quality of the ERC-2 connected to the XSP-1. I found that the XDA-2 marginally improved the sound of all the mid-priced CD players and all of the DVD players. However, I found the ERC-2 connected directly to the XSP-1 was the best sounding unit of all those tested, natively or with the XDA-2. I was unable to detect an improvement in the sound from the ERC-2 when patched thru the XDA-2. Based on my testing, I will expect you will find your CDs sound better with the XDA-2 in the signal path, but you may find the CD-1 (ERC-2) will provide another step up in performance. The reason I mention this to you is that Sherbourn's close out price is such a great bargain you may want to get one before they are all sold out. Enjoy your new toy.

Hi Ronny thanks for the comparisons.. hopefully will be a sq improvement.. not sure if my 150 dollar cd player is mid level but it does hold 5 disc.. i was torn between xda 2 cd 1 or dc1 for a few weeks .. if i had not bought the xda 2 i would order the cd 1 today.
but i think i will just see how i do with the xda 2 for now.. and learn about using it with the computer..
the erc 3 maybe nexts yr..
wow so when the sell out of cd 1s emotiva will not have any cd players for sale...
maybe that will get the erc 3 coming up faster in development..
cheers..
