Bi-Wire equals Buy Wire (another pair of speaker wires) Bi-Amp is the same... Buy Amp (another amp) I Tri-Amp but do it properly with active crossover (LX-521 by Linkwitz)

Special thanks to Paul (wizardofoz) who made the trip to my house and provided some useful tips. Heck, I would have been more than happy to come to Singapore to help you if you had supplied a ticket. Economy plus seat would be satisfactory.

CY happened to be selling the 7-way RCA interconnects from his recent purchase so it was a win-win visit.
Nice cosy setup - our Singapore places are very small compared to most USA homes.

The amp should be cold on stand by.
Please call this morning and we'll rectify the issue.
Sorry for the inconvenience. Big Dan

(speaker jumpers were not removed) Kudos to a great amp design. Many amps under those conditions would have damaged themselves or at the very least blown a fuse or two.

.......... - our Singapore places are very small compared to most USA homes. Our condo is very small also. You Singaporeans can't fool me. Your residences are small but they are stacked to the ceiling with money. " Singapore has the world's highest percentage of millionaires, with one out of every six households having at least one million US dollars in disposable wealth. This excludes property, businesses, and luxury goods, which if included would further increase the number of millionaires, especially as property in Singapore is among the world's most expensive." Was it bi-wired or bi-amped?
If bi-wired, unless you had the two sets of wires reversed, it shouldn't have mattered whether the jumpers were in place or not.
And when it's in standby it shouldn't care how anything is connected.
I'd still give a call and just run through everything with a tech.

Just for the record here.....
An XPA should NOT get warm in Standby mode. If you try to RUN an XPA with a shorted speaker cable or a similar wiring problem, the protection will trip. However, none of this is relevant to what you're talking about here because, in Standby, the main power supply and amplifier modules are NOT powered on, so no heat should be generated. (The Standby power supply is tiny and consumes very little power - we're talking about equal to a night light.)
When the amp does get warm the heat is generated at the heat sinks, so, if you run it very hard and then shut it off, the outside may continue to get warmer for a while as the heat "soaks out" from the heat sinks to the case. This could cause the case temperature to continue to go up for a while after you shut off the amp, but it will eventually start to cool off. If you have an amp that gets hot - and remains hot - in Standby mode, then there is something wrong and you really should call support - soon!

I'd like to know what really happened. Bi-Wiring, in and of itself shouldn't do what was observed. HAD to be a mis-wire somewhere.....and a short.
The good news? At least you KNOW the amps protection circuitry is 'sound'.
