I think my RPA-2 will be here tomorrow, it arrived in Fort Worth this afternoon and Oklahoma City is a short trip up I-35. My wife doesn't really like the really loud effects in movies so I think the musicality of the RPA-2 is exactly what I've been looking for. I'm probably 85% music. Probably be watching the Fedex site all evening to see when my amp "departs" for OKC.

Does anyone use the signal to power on the amp or do you use the 12v trigger? My amp will be about 4 feet away from my Denon. If the signal on works fine then that's great but if i will required the 12v trigger where does one get that cable?
Oh yeah, "On the truck for delivery"!

Instructions for use are here: emotiva.com/rpa2_trigger.shtmPlease post your findings once you get it hooked up. Enjoy!

Lonnie told me that the cable is included with the RSP-2 not the RPA-2. Is this correct or is there actually a cable with the amp also?

I don't remember if I've asked this question so I apologize if I have, I don't see it in this thread. What interconnects do you use from the pre to the RPA-2. Reading different forums some would have you believe that the cable can make all the difference in the world but you don't necessarily need to buy the highest price cable. I understand you want it to have the gold connectors but what else? Any suggestions?

This entire thread has been about that, and I don't see Arctikdeth hanging out here discussing the delicacy and finesse of music. This isn't to denigrate any given user (and certainly not Rusty, 'cause, personally, I think he's pretty cool), it's to prove a point.
i would have chimed in earlier, but im busy doiung listening tests to my amp. I wont go into a review or anything, but as for the remark about the finesse and all the 10 dollar words, these amps are very smooth, I am a little shocked personally, I mean comparing them to Classe CA-301, and Mcintosh, i wasnt sure about the krell, as its only rateds at 250 8-ohm, .....the xpa-s were a little brighter than these, but everything else was staggeringly better(except classe', aghain these are the worlds finest imo) but the XPA was ABSOLUTELY NO SLOUCH BY ANY MEANS.. heres some more big $ words to describe the sound of the XPA - robust, full, clear, deep, uncolored, accurate as hell!, unforgiving, arrogant, lifelike, no i dont have my thesaurisus next to me either, i do have some edumication in my tiny brain. I was truly amazed at the sheer brutality these amps have, at no time, no matter the volume setting the sound rarely ever changd from the fluid like soundstage, if i was playing at a low level in the morning, or after the wife left for work, and i would kick the XPA's in the ass a bit, the sound was overall the same, and this was amazing in my book. the krell would shift to a harsh sound at high volumes, and the t hreshold would get a bit bright at louder volumes, and would the Mcintosh, the 2600 would seem to stutter step in the low freq at high volumes, but the XPA jusy kept chuggin right along, like i wasnt asking much of her at all. If you are considering an XPA amp, i would buy, If you have bright speakers, i would say go with the RPA-2, as the XPA's tend to be a slightly bit bright, but after i had my crossovers back from Ed, I WAS JUST IN AWE! I think i found the perfect match, cant handle the watts , as only rated at 250 peak, but for tyhe sound quality, and soundstage, i have found a perfect match wityh these speakers. I will keep these for a while now! Now I have to save up $2000 for the 8.3's in the future. I am happy, I have no doubt that these amps will be my mainstay for a very long time!

It is hard to judge the quality of the connectors or copper used in a cable. Ultimately, you can use any cable that pleases your ears. Many use cables as filters to EQ their sound. I would rather just buy a solid neutral cable and I've found the best bang for the buck is the Blue Jeans Cable LC-1 Audio Cable. You'll see on their page the simple science and simple explainations of the reasons why they designed their cable. If you ever need multichannel line-level cable, shielded CAT-5 or CAT-6 Ethernet cable is excellent and is generally made for extremely low capacitance like the Blue Jeans LC-1. It's 8 twisted wires giving your 4 RCAs on one cable. You'll just need to cap the ends yourself with RCAs. Capacitance in nearly all 'decent' cables is so low it really doesn't figure too much into your sound, however cables often designed to such a spec are a sign of some decent amount of manufacturing quality, not neccessarily that it'll sound better. Reading different forums some would have you believe that the cable can make all the difference in the world but you don't necessarily need to buy the highest price cable. I understand you want it to have the gold connectors but what else? Any suggestions?

I am happy, I have no doubt that these amps will be my mainstay for a very long time! Awesome, Arctikdeth! I'm envious of you, with XPA-1's! You should make sure you post this over in the XPA review area, too! And when you get your RPA-2, we definitely want you to post a review here, too! Edit: I see you have a new post over there. Good work!

Wow, do you actually have Krell, Threshold, Classe etc. lying around the house. My God man! First things first: welcome to the lounge, swalter! I think Arctik has an amplifier fixation (takes one to know one). I figure he should sell a few of those on Ebay and buy those speakers he says he needs to make the sound perfect.

my cousin did inquire abhout my Mcintosh mc2600, this may be a good idea as i do need some more cash. Ill put some words in peoples heads at our next family reunion, and see if I have any buyers or can put them on layaway til family members have some cash to pay in full. Ill see what i can get for all but the EMO, these amps are quite old looking, the former owners were not the sharpest pencils in the box, most of t he amps i own i picked up at estate sales, foreclosures, garage sales - you have to ask the owners if they have any vintage electronics and/or speakers for sale. maybe ill just sell most of my older amps, as they are NOT in the best condition, but do sound great. dings, dents, scuffs, nicks, and the like are on most of the amps. im not a perfectionist about t his stuff, especially for the prices i paid for them. but maybe its time to move on, and just make some room in the house without all this crap

EdmondWolfman wondered: "I don't remember if I've asked this question so I apologize if I have, I don't see it in this thread. What interconnects do you use from the pre to the RPA-2. "
I would look for interconnects that are long enough to reach from the preamp to the amp. MonoPrice and BJC both make great quality interconnects that will do exactly what you want to do. Expect to spend about $5 - $15 per cable. Any more than that is, IMHO, wasting your money...

SOLD my Mcintosh mc2500!!!! accepted 2,200 - I know I could have had MUCH more on ebay and from a collector, but im helping out a family member who has been admiring my Mcintosh for many years. So, I have the threshold left and the Classe, and a couple other goodies, probably sell more this summer!

I want to read a review of the ERM-1's with the XPA-1's! mibht go the polk rti a9 route, can get a refurbished pair from club polk for about 875 dollars, will still have plenty of cash left over for other stuff & some overdue bills that need attention.
