So I recently found out about emotiva and everything I read makes me want to buy a XPA-5. I was not planning on buying one this quick with the 10% off sale that ends today. So my questions is, does emotiva have sales like this often? ie, few times a year? Or do I need to buy it today and save 100 because it wont happen again anytime soon
Thanks

Their next sale is usually the Fall sale. Their fast moving items are usually not marked down much or not at all. And, usually the sale is limited to stock on site which means when it's gone, so is the price. Then they have their Holiday Sale where prices are a bit better (sale wise). Another thing is that, come the Holiday Sale, there will be more and different gear available (see Emofest threads).

Looking through my e-mails I see that this year there was last years holiday sale that was nearly 2 months long and ended in January, a limited amp sale in February-March, a secret sale in April, a spring sale in May, a summer sale that was also 2 months, and the 10th anniversary sale. That's just going back through last December. Honestly I think it's kind of silly to pay full price for anything from Emotiva with the frequency of their sales. Almost everything is at least 10% off during the summer and holiday sales.

Hi guys, Enjoy the sales this year, as this is coming to an end.
Beginning in 2014, Emotiva wil not be offering sale prices on our products.
We feel the same as you do. Sales just make everyone sit on the fence until the next one, and they guys that didn't purchase at the sale price resent us.
So, be aware that this change of policy is coming. Our prices are already so reasonable, there is really no need for a sale. We will, of course, be keeping our Upgrade For Life program, but other then that, we will not offer price reductions as a matter of course.
Cheers, Big Dan

The sales were a big motivating factor for the last 2 XPR-5s that I bought. I understand the logic, the sales just motivated me to get off my butt and buy the gear I've been waiting for!

Jason and I are good friends and we have spoken about this many, many times... I believe he is correct in this regard.
The best, most highly valued brands do not go on sale all of the time. Think apple, Bose, Cartier, Rolex, etc.
Our prices are very fair and I want people to purchase with confidence, and with the feeling that they have not been "ripped off" by missing a sale.

So I'll no longer be waiting a few months for a sale, and I can buy the gear year round? Uh oh!!! There goes my credit card..... I completely understand the importance of wanting people to buy with confidence. There are lots of good reasons to have very few sales. I didn't mean to sound like I thought it was a bad idea (just a change). As long as you don't adopt Apple/Bose/Carier/Rolex pricing, I'm content as ever...

As much as I love the sales I do understand the reasoning. It will bring a more steady stream of sales for the company rather than people always waiting for the next sale. Additionally I think it will help strengthen the brand as a whole. It will increase the perceived value of the company when gear is not regularly on sale and that is always a good thing.
Mind you, Emotiva is already a tremendous value even when not on sale and I will have no problem paying full price...after my 40% discount card on the XMC, of course.
I do not have a great deal of Emotiva geat yet (four pieces and counting)...but I am a customer for life. Anything that keeps the company strong and increases the customer base not only helps the company but the customers as well by allowing that company to grow and offer even more great products at great prices.
I was down in Nashville a few months ago for my brother's bachelor party. I still regret not having the time to visit Emo HQ. rest assured, I WILL be at Emofest 2014.
Congrats on the 10 year mark and here's to 100 more!

Thanks for the "heads up" regarding the end of Emos sales Big Dan.
However, I do have a quick question. Do you still plan to do a Christmas/end of the year sale this year?

Oh man, no more sale from 2014, I need a drink.. Not even a secret sale or that great warehouse sale ,that was the best.. Ahh well, I'll just have save a little longer ,thats all.. The reason I loved the sales as much as I do ,is they allowed me to buy at that sale price ,thus keeping me under the $1000 threshold for entry tax into AUS.. I vote for at least the secret sales, we won't tell, lol...

Sales=Mark up to mark down.
I'm in retail and I get sick of it. It seems to lure impulse buyers at times though.
Emo has been the JC Penny of audio lately with the never ending sales.
Put the sales on the slow sellers and the aging or overstock, leave consistent fair prices on the rest.
Just my opinion, I'm not telling anyone what to do.

Dan Laufman I couldn't be happier to hear this. It just feels better knowing that what you're getting is the best price you're going to get. Prices don't have to be marked up, so that they have sale prices going under them, etc. And not feeling like, if I'd waited an extra month I could have saved N bucks. Regarding the "secret sales", I'm guessing that those might still go on, as those are not sale prices on current A stock, but rather discounted prices on refurbished/B stock/potentially older items. This still feels good. Just like Apple has different prices for their "refurbished" gear.

Cheers, Big Dan A sales is a wonderful marketing instrument if used wisely. All brands use it, no exceptions, be it Rolex, Mercedes Benz, Cartier or others. However, when this becomes an obsession and you propose a sales every 2 months or so, than why complain that customers take up that offer? The mistake is not with your customers, the mistake is with the presentation of the brand. As for change management, academia teaches us that radical changes are on the one side overly dangerous in front of customers, and on the other hand also not very successful. You should consider incremental changes to your approaches to sales instead.

If it wasn't for Emos Sales , I wouldn't be able to afford Emo gear.
Does this mean the regular retail price of gear will become more affordable?
I don't know quite how to take this news.
I think I'm sad......

I wonder if special Emofest pricing will still be in effect?
