Hi guys!
I am currently building my stereo setup for my small rented apartment. I am quickly building this because I will be getting married next year January.
I am aiming for a minimalist set up..so for the past 2 years I am aiming for the duevel planets when I build my stereo setup..
I joined the crowd funding campaign of Olive One (around February) since all my music source is in digital format and really want to have a simple/sleek digital audio player..plus the price is not steep compared to the other olive offerings..and I really don't want to play music through a PC as much as possible which is why I sought a device such as this..the Olive One is set to be delivered by end of Sept..
I am also eyeing to buy a Hifiman HE-500 and through head-fi I found a thread that used the mini-x as a head amp for this orthodynamic cans..so I joined the pro-boards to learn more about it and decided that this amp can also power my future duevel planets..so I bought one around July and I have not received it still..hopefully I will be receiving it before September ends..I am from the Philippines btw..
Then I realized that I need to get a workaround the limitations of the mini-x single input and no remote control..which is why I searched high and low for a pre-amp..I was eyeing on the USP1 since my digital sources have analog outs..but since all my sources are digital (portable DAP player, network media player, olive one, asus ux31a)..someone suggested the XDA-2..so I bought that one too, a day before the sale ends..so my XDA-2 will probably arrive here around October? with that I can familairize myself with the sound of the Olive One using it's internal DAC while waiting for the XDA-2 to arrive..so I can do a comparison with the Olive One's internal DAC > line out > mini-X and Olive One's digital out > XDA-2 > mini-X..
I am buying these gears revolving with my future purchase of the duevel planets..I can buy them off now but thinking deeply I decided to hold off the purchase since I will be getting married and will probably need the money when the need arises..so what will I use then? I have been looking for a decent bookshelf as a replacement for the duevel planets..and there is this pair of speakers that attracted me the most..
Wharfedale Dentons 80th anniversary edition..why this? if you look at the price of the Dentons and the Planets are almost the same..but luckily for us here..we can have it for around $340..it's the first time that we have it cheaper than other countries..bang for the buck performance on this I think is a no brainer..though it's a pain in the ass to find..dealers here get 1-2 pairs only..the stocks are very limited..I missed them a couple of times since other people are snatching them up..but today is my lucky day..my fiancee's office is near the audio dealer and I let her buy the speakers for me..they are still currently at the store just waiting to be picked up..damn work gets in the way of this hobby..but I am in no hurry because I do not have any amplifier in the apt to hook them up lol
Anyway, that's my story..sad to say all of these gears I mentioned are not in my possession yet..and I am really looking forward to get all these gears work together harmoniously!!
I will just update this thread of mine as the equipments arrive one by one.
I hope I posted at the correct section..Mods please free to move this wherever it is appropriate..Thanks!!!
