Is it official that this will be Emotiva's last sale and/or will the standard pricing be reduced once January rolls around?

Is it official that this will be Emotiva's last sale and/or will the standard pricing be reduced once January rolls around? I thought Dan said there would be no more sales from next year. Note that this doesn't mean this current sale will be the last sale!

I believe that this sale is going to run through x-mas... and then sales are generally done. Replaced with a loyalty program of some sort.

Is there anything I should be looking for when buying a used amp? Also, what should I know about UPA-1s. Is there any reason they were discontinued? Would buying 5 used UPA-1s be a better choice over a new XPA-5 for roughly the same cost?

You can get a brand new XPA-3 for 719.00 right now. (Gen 2 as well) Doesn't seem worth driving seven hours for a $600 used gen 1. Also if you don't like it, you can always return it as long as its within 30 days. All you'll be out is shipping. . I am in Canada, so I have to factor in the exchange rate, 12% tax, extra shipping cost, possible brokerage/duty. $719 will probably equal more than $900 once all the dust settles. Return shipping from Canada would be $$$$$. just email the sales dept at emo.. they can give you a quote to your door in US dollars if using a Canadian visa or mc add 2 or 3 % on top of the exchange fee.. i use a US dollar visa.. to save on the fee.. cheers

^ Thanks. Amazon.ca visa doesn't charge foreign exchange rate fees either and has no annual fee. Visa doesn't give the greatest exchange rate, but the US dollar visa charges a $40 annual fee so the amazon card might work out better. FYI

Dollar for dollar you can't beat the XPA-5 Gen 2 as a starting point no way any AVR can match a separate amp such as the XPA-5 to show you the rite direction to go in. I've heard that on the gen-2 XPA-5, they fixed the RCA port issues, but what else is different from the gen-1 model?
