The Peavey IPR2 series looks to be a great value. IPR2 2000: 600w x 2 @ 4 ohm. Class D.

The EP4000 should be fine at 2ohms stereo but not bridged. Doesn't sound like you plan to bridge it. I just picked up an EPX4000 on Ebay for $230 plus shipping. Thing sounds great on my towers (haven't hooked it up to a sub yet). Behringer had me talk to one of their engineers and they indicated it's - 1db down to 10hz and only -3db at 6.5hz, so that's great for sub duty. I'm excited to get my build up and running and it sounds like you're on the right track with yours.
PS You WILL need to change the fans on the EP4000. n8dogg is a great resource on all things sub/pro audio. The EPX4000 is said to have a quieter fan but as soon as I plugged it in I laughed because it's seriously loud--no way I could leave it as is. The fan mod is easy but factor that cost in as well if you're going to have the amp in the same room as your listening. Each fan will run you $5-$20 plus shipping depending on how quiet you want it and how much air you need to move (i.e. how demanding you think you'll be on the amp).

Thanks Phatfos1,
Is the fan 12 volt?
Thanks, Dave.

That is a much quieter fan but the airflow is half what the standard fan is. As I live in a hot climate should I look for something with more airflow but still quieter than the standard fan? I don't listen at loud volumes, maybe 85db in a large room. Dave.

There just aren't many 24v fans in that size that are made to be quite. You have to compromise, loud and good flow vs quite and half the flow. You could always do a few resistors and slow your oem fan down but the flow of the proposed fans in most cases is more than enough in a home setting.

Everything I've read indicates that heat in the EP and EPX is a non-issue in a home setting. The amps are designed to function at max in very difficult environments (outdoors in high temps) for long periods of time. Under those conditions you can imagine the heat dissipation requirements being an order of magnitude higher than in your 70-80 degree listening room at maybe 1/8 of the amps capability. I think the fan at 50% airflow will be absolutely fine. I have not come across anyone having heat issues with the amps at home. When I get my fan I just want it to be as quite as my projector's fan. I don't want to hear it >three feet away. Pretty easy to do that with the 24v variants on Digikey.

I bet no one pushes their ep4000 more than I do N8 8ould but he has too many and don't need too. The link to the fan we all use is perfect. I party all night sometimes here and the spl is from 100 to 126+ the amp is still ice cold

Will that fan also work in the EPX? I believe so. I have never heard that it does not work. Let someone else chime in to verify 100%

Can anyone confirm if the Behringer EP2000 is stable into 4ohm bridged? My MFW-15 amp finally choked (surprise!) so I'm considering the EP2000 as an option. Thanks.
