Poll,,,,,,,Need help
I can pick almost any speaker from these manufacturers, you get to vote and tell me which models and why.
Suggestions on CD to bring with me.
Ive asked to have them use amps closest to my XPR-1s. this will be a one day audition in early January, Please help, where I live I have no opportunity to do this. Id like to take full advantage of this one time audition.
Thank you all in advance.
Peace,
Nick

Well lucky us. How can anyone pick a speaker for you? It's impossible. They are all great brands but all over the place price-wise. Wilsons can cost as much as $120,000 a pair It s like asking should I get the Ford Focus or the Ferrari?

Thanks, I figured I'd leave a softball question to start!
Ok $3000.00 to $5000.00 retail, which I don't / can't pay
Nick
I like the sound of my Paradigims adp 590 which have detailed highs, but I also LOVE my subs

Given you've declined the $120,000.00 vehicular option, I'm ruling out the Wilsons. Paradigm have a sound I happen to like.

I voted GoldenEar--I have Polks and DefTechs both designed by Sandy Gross and the man knows speakers!

Could you expand on your thoughts about your 100 s, I'm sure they would match my 4 x APD 590 s but I'm not sure what to expect. if you have done a review, would you kindly send me in that direction. Any thoughts would help.Deltadube has been streaming me in that direction but I'm hard headed and need more " INPUT " Nick Thanks in advance

Some people say that the they find the tweeters harsh but I certainly don't agree. Just listen to the likes of Diana Krall or Eva Cassidy and you'll see how nice the sound is. Check out reviews on the interwebs.. they're all extremely positive. If you can find a dealer nearby who will let you trial these in your home, it'll be a no risk affair. I was able to do the same in southern New Hampshire and decided to keep them after a week in my room. Now I did listen to Wilson Watt Puppies and thought they sounded great but my pockets aren't that deep. My ultimate speakers would be the MBL Stratocasters but they'll cost more than my mortgage! Try out the Paradigms, if you can from a dealer. You know that your ADPs will thank you!

hemster, thanks so much, there is a dealer in town, but he no longer an active seller,,,,,,,,license to sell but no show room,,,,dang! Demo in home is out I'm sure! I'm in the states and will be out of my small town so I'll only be able to demo a few speakers way out of town. How's the mid and bass on the 100s? I do like the horns of my Klipsch sf-28 I also hear JBL C120, there from 30 years ago but are in new condition. There three ways and I don't think they will cut it for me in my main system. The only other speakers I've heard in my house are Boooos, I mean Bose and a set of BS 62 ll Klipsch accompanied by subs.
I don't have a clue about any other speakers other then these. The XPR-1 s and XSP-1 with the DC-1 running my Oppo has opened up some serious sound and I'd like to maximize it without my wife filing for a divorce , she like the sound so far but she has a limit to our hobbie and the Piggy Bank !
Peace,
Nick

Nick, the 100s play low enough for me not to need the sub for music. But of course for movies I use the sub. Mid range is excellent and Paradigm know how to build speakers. Call your local dealer and demand an in-home trial. If that fails, call the next closest dealer. Failing that, call Paradigm. Hey, you never know until you try!

Nick I auditioned the Triton 2's @ ~$1400/pc with the thought of being able to do away with separate subs. They are slightly warm and laid back in the upper ranges. In the end I stayed with my bipolar design because they were better for double duty theatre and music IMHO.

Nick Nick, I've used that line before and will use it again because it's true. It's really impossible to know what you prefer, what sounds good to your ears and in your room. Paradigm, Golden Ear, Wilson are all well reviewed, highly regarded brands and all make great sounding speakers along with B&W, Revel, Salk, Polk, Aperion, Axiom and countless others. All I was trying to say was speakers are mostly a choice of personal taste. What I might like may not be your cup of tea so to speak. So that's why I say that a lot because I believe it to be true.

I know your statement is so true! I wasn't trying to be a smart a,,s I do value your input as well as all the others hear on the forum. I knew when I started that no one but Me , myself, and I could find the speakers of my dreams, BUT, not having any experience at all, almost, in the audio idiosyncrasies of the different players and sounds of most of the major manufacturers has left me without a clue as to where to start Yes, I know to listen to as many speakers as I can with material that I know. Where I live doesn't offer me the opportunity to review any speakers. Best Buy, not a Magnolia store, is not a place to find my dream speakers, it's a starting point. Yes I purchased the best that they offered but that's not the end of my quest, only the beginning i wish to make the most of this trip to do some research but this is not the primary mission on this trip.so time is limited. In my business I rarely get the opportunity to leave town. so I'm crying out for help, reading reviews from people selling speakers will only get me so far. i value the friends I've found on this forum and respect there knowledge and opinions as well. I thank you Porscheguy and all my other friends here on this forum. i just noticed that half of what I've typed is missing because of this dang ipad acting up again, so I'll close for now and see what's up with this ¥{€&$/(&¥|+{^ dang thing! Nick, I am a fan of Focal speakers. Now that they have released a new line, the "Aria" the current line of Chorus 800 series are available very cheaply. I have four of the Chorus 836V speakers and am really happy with them.
The next step up for me will most likely be to the Focal 1038be II. This model has the beryllium tweeter and sounds exceptional.
You might consider looking at Focal speakers as well. Right now the Chorus speakers are super affordable.they are retailing for twenty percent less than they used to wholesale.

The Monitor Audio Silver series are great for dbl duty for music and HT use, and they have the new Silver series out now as well. If you can give them a listen.
