Using the Stealth DC-1 and the XDA-2 with jRiver Media Center v19The current Windows drivers (the unified drivers) for the DC-1 ONLY support WASAPI:PUSH mode; (they do NOT support WASAPI:EVENT mode). (The older drivers do support both, but don't support Windows 8.) By default, the latest version of jRiver Media Center (v19) seems to default to using the WASAPI mode we don’t support – so you get an error when you try to play anything. (The DAC will work when you select DS mode, but you will get either silence, or an odd error, when you choose "WASAPI".) To “fix” this, all you need to do is to change one setting… To select the DC-1 (in WASAPI mode) to begin with… Under Tools | Options | Audio Device select the correct device: “ xxxxx USB2.0 High-Speed True HD Audio [WASAPI] “ (the xxxxx is the Windows name for the DC-1; this defaults to “S/PDIF” but you can change it in Windows). Now that the DC-1 is selected and set to WASAPI mode… Click the next setting down ( Device Settings) and check the box marked “ Disable Event Style (required by older hardware)” **** NOTE: The Device Settings panel is different depending on what output device you have selected. This option will NOT be shown in the Device Settings panel until AFTER you select the DC-1 in WASAPI mode as your output device. Now be sure to Exit Setup by clicking “OK” to save the settings. (Now you can have fun setting the other zillion options in jRiver )

Keith, Thank you for the information.
Are there any differences between Wasapi "Push" mode and "Event" mode? By differences, I mean regarding bit perfect output, or other treatment of the signal.

When I first got my DC-1 I was going crazy trying to get event mode to work. Eventually I discovered that Schiit uses the same USB chip as Emotiva in its DACs so I downloaded the Schiit drivers for USB from their web site. When you unpack the drivers the contents of the folders appear to be nearly identical to the Emotiva drivers except for an ini file. The Schiit drivers work perfectly with my DC-1 and they allow me to use event mode without any problem. I have been using these drivers since shortly after I received my DC-1 early in October and it has been working perfectly in event mode with Windows 8.1 and JRiver 19 ever since.

I first tried to install the old xda-2 drivers and no matter bow many times i ininstalled and reinstalled them i could not get.the dc- drivers to install in win7 pro 64. Installed the Schiit drivers and bamb worked just fine and am able to use the event style mode just fine.

Ok well I have the Synology DS1813+ NAS ... and had the DC-1 plugged in to the USB2 ports and could only manage to get 48K even when playing 24/192 material.
Then I tried it on the USB3 port and that immediately started playing as 192 displayed...sweet.
I am using this to replace a JRiver setup certainly for Audio and for video streaming too via appleTV, OPPO etc
While DSD support doesn't make or break this DAC in my setup it might for some.

Can't you output the Oppo to your DC-1? Will that work?

The NAS might not support USB Audio 2.0, which would cause this to happen. There shuoldn't be any issues with UAC over USB 2.0

How about a media monkey guide. That's sort of the go to software as it's free and wasapi comes onboard with it.

The NAS does support USB2 audio as the dragonfly works on USB2 no issue. I will need to get my oppo hooked up again but have been moving my 2channel rig around and have yet to get it setup again as a lot going right now...and my UMC-1 parts are still on the way somewhere.

I thought I would try the ipad 2 I have via usb into the dc-1 via the 30 pin to usb camera adaptor and it works fine, which was a welcome surprise.
Only 44.1 iirc correctly but no issues with this device uses too much power messages like most dacs I have tried.

Also, try streaming to an airport express connected to your dc-1 via toslink.
bit perfect at 16/44, cd quality.

Did you just install the Schiit drivers the normal way? Did you have to modify anything? I should say that I am using Foobar and WASAPI. Maybe JRiver can do this but Foobar can't? I can't get any music to play with the Schiit drivers in either Push or Event mode in Foobar; I get errors. With the Emo drivers I can use WASAPI push just fine. And I did completely uninstall the Emo drivers when I tried the ones from Schiit...

You can run Winamp in either shared or exclusive mode/bit-stream easily via Maiko's WASAPI plug in for Winamp.
Note: My DC-1 is connected via Toslink/optical.

Will the regular iphone USB cable work with it?
