I am thinking about getting a pair of XPA-100s to power my front speakers. I currently have a gen1 xpa-5 with an ATI-1502 two channel amp that powers my rear surrounds in a 7.1 setup. I am wondering how the xpa-100s will sound compared to the the xpa-5. I would sell my ATI 1502 and let the xpa-5 power everything except the front speakers. Thanks for any input.

Perfect match. Both amps have a 32 db gain and use the same amp modules. The xpa100 is basically a renamed upa-1 that had great reviews and at the sale price is a bargain.

I noticed that the product description of the XPA-100 shows the gain to be 32db but when I downloaded the manual, it list the gain as 29db. Which is correct? Also, when buying a pair of these amps, can I stack one on the other and still have adequate air circulation? Thanks.

I have 2 running side by side and play at moderate levels to 4 ohm loads for long periods- they are staying very cool so I'd say that stacking isn't an issue with these amps. You can always add 4 corner spacers to be safe. Re the gain, I can't answer which is the correct spec, maybe Emo can

They did lower the gain on gen 2 amps. Probably 29 gain on all new amps. Check emo best bet to make sure.
