Excellent choice!
When you get your amps, just be aware you'll need to use the spade lugs supplied to span that 14".....the banana plugs won't stretch.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the heads up audiobill. I am really excited about this upgrade and anxious to hear my B&W 804S speakers all over again.

Well Thanks Everyone I made a decision and placed an order with Chad for two XPA1's and two pairs of speaker cable. Thanks to all I am really excited about this purchase and can't wait for the upgrade. I will let be on the forum with an update as soon as they arrive. Now just wish me luck in selling a pair of Dynaudio's. Frank Like everyone said already, it was a win / win choice either way! Your new setup is gonna singgg!. I also have the MIT Terminator Bi-wire cables. I just received my 3 XPA-1's and i'm kinda upset that I cant use the MIT cables due to the binding post layout on the XPA-1's. Luckily I knew this before I bought them and had some custom 11 guage bi-wire cables made. :-) I kinda miss using my MIT cables, I almost feel like the speakers had a bit better bass with the MIT's hooked up. Probably just a placebo effect. But anyhow I emailed MIT yesterday and told them about my situation with the cables and asked them if I could send my cables in to have them altered to work with the XPA-1's. They said they could do that, but i would cost a "few hundred" dollars. . lol. That's all I paid for them used. Just a heads up.

Peace, Nick

Thanks. Krazystang..I too am disappointed about the issue regarding the binding post on the XPA's and the idea that I might not be able to use my MIT cable. I want to look at my MIT's and see if I can "home-remedy" an adjustment. Just looking at them it am wondering if I can cut back the casing about 12" and put neoprene on the cables. Otherwise for now I might purchase speaker cables from Emotiva. Another issue is Emotiva is out of stock with balanced cables. Another disappointment. An ETA on those cables is possibly not until February. Where did you purchase your speaker cables. Myself I am not crazy about BJC. I do like the the professional look of the speaker cables that Emotiva is selling. The tech person at Emotiva said they had a pair hooked up to a pair of B&W D's.
Gotta check on those MIT's. I do not want to spend another couple of hundred dollars plus shipping for MIT to re-invent the wheel.

A 6" cutback will give you 12" of span.... Don't ask me how I know

I'll let ya know if I try it. lol. The emotiva cables seem nice. I actually have 3 of them lying around. I used them to run my center and surround for a while. Quality built cable. I had mine made by a guy that sells them on e bay. They seem like good quality cables and the nice part was I could tell him exactly what length and termination's i wanted. I just emailed him with what I needed and he created a listing for me. I'm using them for my Fronts And Center now. No complaints, although I would like to A/B them against my MIT's. I PM'd you the link to the seller. Let me know what you decide. P.S. If you interested in the emotiva cables I have, i would probably sell them.

Thanks I will consider buying your cables if things don't work out. I decided to wait until I get the amps first unless of course I change my mind
Audiobill...I won't ask....but I was thinking just how difficult it would be to re-fabricate ?...can't be that difficult.
Thanks for your little pep talk.

Took your advice audiobill and placed an order at BJC for balanced cables. I was disappointed that Emotiva was out of stock and they do not know when they would be getting the lengths I need back in stock. Emotiva's balanced cables are a good looking, professional style cable. I like that look. I've had purchased BJC before and I have to say they leave nothing to be desired when it comes to looks but they are a reliable cable. I looked at more than one cable company and BJC is the most affordable for me at this time. To offset their appearance I ordered them in RED. Something to talk about, right. Haha. I am not familiar with the Emotiva line except from what I am reading are their forum. I keep on reading about the XPA1 Gen2 60 watts of class A power and how sweet the sound will be musically however speaking to one of the Techs at Emotiva he recommended using the A/B mode for my speakers. Do you have any input? I have the B&W 804S speakers an although they are not the DIAMOND series I am expecting a noticeable change in detail and depth.
Thanks, Have a great day...Frank

Sorry, mine are Gen 1 - but my understanding is that they will stay in Class A to 60W automatically - so you can leave the switch as they suggest.
I'd want to try each on different music at different volumes to see which I thought sounded best.
You are in for major good sound in any case.
Have they arrived?

Today. Late in the afternoon. I will post some pictures.
My balanced cables from BJC won't be here until Thursday...keep my fingers crossed. Still have not decided about modifying my MIT's. A follow forum member sent me an ad for Legend Audio cables on E-bay. They look nice and are affordable. They also are 11 gauge.

Since you've now heard both the XPR-2 at your friends house and the XPA-1 at your place, can you give us your thoughts on the differences between the two amps?

I'd be interested in hearing the results of that comparison myself. Based on my experience with the XPA-2 vs the XPR-2:
My XPA was a more dynamic and forward sounding amplifier.
My XPR is a less dynamic but more dimensional sounding amp.
You pays your money, you takes your choice. I'm happy with my XPR-2.
