For music, I suggest that a pair of XPA-1L's are all you need, unless you want to move to some other brand. Looking at the Emotiva brand, the XPA-1L amp has all the technology with its fully balanced design and power you need plus they don't weigh a ton and take up less space.

+1 for Mr. Right in LA - Unless you're driving Apogee Scintillas (practically a dead short), the XPA-1Ls are absolutely AMAZING! They might even drive the Apogees - I haven't tried that. I can say that the XPA-1Ls made my Paradigms sit up and sing. Not only that, but it doesn't take a fork lift to move them. I'm beginning to appreciate that...

Is there any way at all that EMO could have located the Speaker Binding Posts FURTHER apart on the 1L? Will they accept a Banana Plug?

They will of course, but there was really no need for Emotiva to put them so far apart when you look at the design. Perhaps it was to emphasis the differential design.

After many hours with a microscope,,,,,a flaw with the XPA-1L is found!! Oh the agony! Nick

Fortunately, it isn't noticeable from the front!

2 things……Both minor. And not exactly 'agony', but certainly a PIA and makes me consider a Mod….I'm inclined to MOVE the posts closer together and use…..maybe, after inspection, a heavier wire and shorter one, to boot. OR First: I'll have to do major surgery on my speaker leads to accommodate the wide 'spread' of binding posts. Second: It is just possible that the inductance between speaker wires is INCREASED by this spacing, both internally and externally. Small effect? For sure.

The XPA-1's wide spacing were designed for a specific type of Emo cord. I forgot which but I assume it fits with the XPA-1 L's.

My Ultralink MKII cables have banana ends and all I do is unscrew the binding posts and insert the banana's into the side and re-tighten the posts. Here is the best pic I could get Attachment Deleted

Hello Mijuki,
I have XPR-1's driving JM Lab Electra 920.1 speakers. Although my JM Labs are rated at 92db they really shine with the extra power and headroom the XPR-1's provide. Plus they sound excellent at all levels! I've had smaller powered tube and solid state amps hooked up and they don't sound as good IMHO. I like to play music loud at times whether it be a symphony orchestra or Hendrix and the XPR-1's make the speakers sing without the sound falling apart. I can't comment on the XPA amps but if XPR-1's are in your budget go for it! I think you'll be thrilled!
Let us know what you get and how you like it.

Hehe. I'm not sure what you meant. But it was a serious question! How do you tigten it down? The holes on the side of the post are bigger so the banana jacks will not stay in on their own, you have to tighten the post to keep them secure.
