Indeed... The latest HDCP is a necessity. Otherwise it does me no good (Sony 4k server would need HDCP 2.2 to be switched through the XMC-1)

We've definitely had plenty of people who seem to run out with four or five.... so better safe than sorry Personally for me, I have to ask who the frack needs EIGHT HDMI inputs? Please list me a system that would need that many, because I'm curious. Really, I just can't come up with it. Unless you are a gamer with every kind of game system in the world, how do you use up 8 HDMI inputs? In my system I have the following: Sony DVD changer - hdmi Panasonic bluray - hdmi Tivo - hdmi Xbox 360- hdmi Chromcast - hdmi Mac mini - hdmi newest purchase Xbox one - hdmi That is seven for me and I think I'm not that unusual. Could I consolidate some devices? Sure but why should I? My AVR had enough (8) HDMI inputs.

I want a podcast, if only to occupy my brain for a few minutes. Didn't the 12/16 podcast say we would see a new XMC-1 product page within a week or two?

But you see, I don't want to HAVE to use HDMI for things like a Blu-ray player. I like options. And with my CD Recorder, I actually make music CD's from sources via analog. And I don't game, or have any computer stuff plugged in (maybe future). I don't find myself unusual either. If I bought a brand new processor right now, today, this is how I would probably ultimately want to hook up my system. DirecTV = HDMI and analog* Blu-ray = HDMI and 7.1 analog* Universal SACD DVD-A DVD Player = HDMI, toslink (certain applications) and analog CD Player = Analog & Toslink CD Recorder = Analog (in and out) & Toslink (in and out) Cassette = Analog (in and out) [yes I still use my cassette for old tapes I haven't burned yet] VCR = Analog (in only for me) [yes I still have old videos we watch once in a while] Turntable = Analog 3 HDMI, 8 analog (2 of which are * = so I can make recordings on my CD Recorder) Old school maybe, but analog is still very useful, and HDMI can be limiting.

I don't think any of XPA/UPA amps are dimmable. The XPRs are. Exactly. And I truly believe all the newer equipment put out in the last year is dimmable/defeatable because of us complaining about it. For me, Emotiva dropped the ball by not putting it on Gen 2 amps. My bad. I agree the amps should be dimmable as well.

My biggest concern I had for the XMC-1 was the lack of HDMI 2.0 and full 4K support. This thing has to last me 10 years after spending money for A 4K projector. I'm one that likes the difference 4K makes and will spend a little more to enjoy it now vs later. As soon as 4K gets more source material and we don't end up with another HD vs Blue-Ray format I will then get my projector. I've waited this long a couple more months to have the latest format is not going to kill me.

I hope their HDMI 2.0 implementation will also include HDCP 2.2 ... So we can enjoy even more HDMI related issues? HDMI issues are not unique to Emotiva. But you know that already. HDCP is really to blame here but that is another topic altogether.

Bonzo, you ane I are in 100% agreement on having legacy audio/video in and out. I still have a cassette deck (that I love) and a VHS VCR (love it too) in my system, along with my TT. All needing legacy AV ins and outs. One day, I would also like to add a laserdisc player to my setup (S-Video anyone?) as well. Sadly, as I look around to the competition, it seems that almost every brand across the board are abandoning these old pieces of gear. My (aging) Yamaha RX-V667 does all of these, but no S-Video input. However it does do composite and component switching to HDMI which I think is pretty cool It also has an analog in/out for connecting a cassette recorder. When I look at the latest crop of receivers/processors, Yamaha has included S-Video switching as you move up the chain to the Avantage line, but have left out the (even more important IMO) analog out for zone 1, so no cassette recorder can be utilized (at least not that I can see how).

I have a few older video game consoles from the 80's & 90's that need the analog video. Analog to HDMI Converters are plentiful (for now) and I connect my Dreamcast directly to my display with a VGA cable. Not ideal, to be sure but choices are becoming increasingly limited.

I want a podcast, if only to occupy my brain for a few minutes. Didn't the 12/16 podcast say we would see a new XMC-1 product page within a week or two? Yes it did. I am wondering if the new product page didn't happen because people would have surely realized two hdmi outputs and then this delay 'surprise' would have been forced out sooner. And the HDMI 2.0 would have been listed under the specs. So I am hoping with all the 'surprises' hopefully out in the open now, we will get an updated product page.

Doesn't the UMC-1 upconvert analog video to HDMI? There're enough around, cheap, that they could be used as a legacy video pre-amp feeding an HDMI input of the XMC-1.

So irregardless of all the + and - posts, anyone receive the conformation e-mail yet? I am, hopefully, expecting it today. Original list many, many moons ago, yet I am still filled with positive expectations...a few weeks longer in the big picture, no problem. Emotiva has always been up front and honest about their product. There will always be consumers with issues and any questions I have had have been answered and taken care of along the way by a simple phone call. (That my friends can be a painful process with many companies) They stand by what they sell and I for one have faith that this will be a truly remarkable processor. OK gotta go check my email...... Not yet, and I just looked. On a side note, you used one of those "push my button" words in your post; irregardless is one of those words that only became a word because so many people mistakenly used it. Why put "irr" before a word to mean the same thing? Yes, it's become acceptable, but it's like saying something is "so fun" instead of "so much fun," it just sounds off. I liked your post, by the way. Don't mind the side note, I'm just a little off this afternoon.

I don't see why you couldn't do this but a small converter could be tucked away somewhere out of sight whereas a UMC-1 would take up quite a bit of space. But if you have one, go for it!

I think it is behind target and the upgrades were basically a "sales pitch" for the delay. However, everybody benefits from this. I am not one of the ones that has to have it now. I do understand the frustrations...Some of you have been waiting years and years. Really at this point if Dan and the team release a less than perfect product the hate will swarm. Better suited for them to anger people waiting than loose credibility on their new baby. That's just my couple of pennies. first point +10000000000 you are so correct the hate SHOULD swarm the empire state building was built faster than this thing and that was in the early 1900's!! are they working full time on this thing? or is it a pet project?? again, no personal hate just super frustrated...I don't need it in fact it makes me love my denon x4000 even more...will i make a mistake by not buying one? probably not...its just the principal...and I think reading this board and all the people who are all about puppy dogs and ice cream...are aggravating me even more...but let this be known...if EMOTIVA Didn't announce a hard date of 2/14/14 I wouldnt care about yet another delay....if they didnt try to blow smoke and use upgrades as an excuse..I wouldnt care...I think it IS behind schedule and they KNEW people would be pissed so they REACTED by adding the upgrades to ease the blow of letting everyone know it was going to be another missed release date...the "announcement" makes it seem like they made the upgrades BEFORE hand and thus the delay...I call BS all that together pisses me off hence the rants online I do believe you will regret not getting one WHEN it comes out. However, you purchasing the upgrade card was a smart move, you will come out ahead should you sell. I have to say this though....Deep down inside you had to know it was NOT going to release on target. This is typical of Emotiva. I am having a hard time seeing why you are so bent out of shape about this. You purchased the card to buy one and you have a working Denon. Is there really a need for RIGHT NOW? I don't think you should bail out on purchasing because it's going to take a while longer. When the XMC glory threads come out you might be very sorry. As far as principal goes, that's your deal. I have always said to stick by your guns. I am not "puppy dogs and ice cream" I was going to hold out for Emos new speakers but instead I went with the sub upgrade. Why? Because the subs are available now and I honestly don't believe we will see the speakers until....Next year? I have learned that promised Emo release dates are like Unicorns and dragons, we all want to believe they are real but in all honesty they just aren't. If this is their biggest weakness so be it, every company has one. This won't detour me from taking a strong look at the passive line when they are released, but I will spend my money on upgrades I want that are available now and the rest will follow. Is this real life?
