Where's the XSP - 1??

I've been away for awhile but does anyone know why the XSP - 1 is off the website?

It is very typical for this to happen when an active product is currently out of stock and is awaiting a model upgrade. When inventory of the upgraded model is received they will then place it for sale on their web page. I suspect that we will shortly see a Gen-2 version of the XSP-1 on the Emotiva web site. The XSP-1 is too popular and too advanced a product for there to be any other likely explanation.

If you are too curious to wait for the web page to be updated, just call or e-mail Emotiva Sales for an explanation of why the XSP-1 is no longer on their web site. Since all the amps are being replaced with the new Gen-2 cosmetics and circuitry improvements, they are going to be replacing the old XSP-1 with a version that is a better cosmetic match to the amplifiers. Emotiva may even be introducing an improved feature set to make it even more desirable to potential buyers. I would be surprised if the new Product Page isn't on-line soon.

Thanks Roadrunner, that makes sense. As I said I was away for awhile and then saw it gone. A Gen 2 would be a great way to blow this year's tax return. I can wait.

Dan commented in another thread in the last couple of days that they were back in stock. A couple other members called Emotiva and were told $100 price increase for Gen 2. So XSP-1 Gen 2 web page should be up soon and will probably show in stock.

    Interesting, $100.00 price increase for a different color trim and Emo advised they are not having  sales  anymore.  I spent mucho bucks in 2013 for Emo gear and every time I purchased, something, it was on sale.   O I would hope it is improved as Roadrunner stated it may be.

I pre-ordered a XSP-1 on Tuesday for $999. I was told they would be back in stock and ready to ship next week.

Is it just me, or did the XSP-1 seem to have a short life cycle?

I suppose it was about a year, or a bit more, but the USP-1 has been around for several years now. I expected the XSP-1 would have a nice long life as the USP-1 has enjoyed.

Either way, I am not certain how they could make it sound much better. Improvements could be gen 2 cosmetics, and the headphone amp section from the DC-1, and upgraded to a 1/4" HP jack vs. the current 1/8".

Other than that, can it really get any better? I mean to say that it's already amazing (and what I consider Emo's finest product to date, having not heard any gen 2 or XPR series amps.

Excited to see what they have come up with, even though I have zero need to upgrade.

I thought the exact same thing. My guess is they probably depleted all of their stock and rather than doing another production run, which is probably a minimum of several hundred units, just determined based on the timing of the new cosmetic changes being rolled out, to just go ahead and updated the XSP as well.

There are only very few changes that could be made to the the XSP-1, mostly ergonomic/convenience type stuff, that could best it over the original version. Things that are just small quibbles anyway. And that said, I doubt any of those I have in mind actually get done to the new model. From an audio-performance standpoint, I see no areas where there could possibly be a realistic improvement. I speculate we see cosmetic changes only.

I would bet once the USP-1 stock is sold off we will see its replacement too.

The beagle setting inserts a frequency filter so the preamp output can only be heard by dogs.

The old name was too confusing given the new XPS-1 phono preamp, so they had to come out with a new name, XSP-1 Gen 2 to make it more obvious.

It took them so long to perfect the XSP-1 that I question what they could really improve. But I'd hate to see a $100 hike for cosmetic reasons...

Whether an 11% price increase is due to something new, cosmetics only, or increased cost of production, it's worrisome to a person without deep pockets like me. It certainly makes a Jolida JD5T, at less than $600, look like the winner as a complement to my DC-1. In the three years since I found Emo, the average price of product has gone up considerably, mostly through new offerings at the high end, which is fine as long as the low end continues to be supported with new and good quality products as well -- I include the DC-1 at the new price in the latter category. The new Emo Glass products will be an interesting key to the direction the company is going, IMO.

Hopefully, the entire product section is getting a "once over" with some much needed updating. There's stuff that's "in stock" (the new trim sizes) that's never made an appearance and other items that's been "unavailable" for six months or more (the splitters) that are still there.

I'm hoping for a complete rework (including that "new" XMC-1 product page)…..

As the USD falls against the Chinese yuan and fuel prices stay high the cost of products made in China will continue to go up. It's not a matter of anyone getting greedy or trying to artificially raise prices. The market conditions are one reason that Emotiva is starting to manufacture some of its product here in the states (starting with the XMC-1; boards in California, final assembly in Tennessee).

The Jolida ($525) would best be compared to the USP-1 ($429) in form and function than the XSP-1. And, trust me when I say that I wish I could have got a XSP-1 for what I paid for my Pre-1, but sometimes you have to settle for the V6 even though you really want the V8. Sometimes you just have to save a little longer or eat bologna sandwiches for month instead of take out to get what you want.
