My listening room is 15x20, hardwood floors, one wall that has a brick fire place, other long wall has a ten foot window, The other long wall has a four foot opening to hallway/kitchen/dinning room. My concern is that my plan for components may be to large for the area. The first stage of the system would be 2 channels, streaming from Spotify, and digital stored music. The second stage would be 5.1 surround sound with three zones. These Emotive components are what I want to build the system around. Is this two much system for my listening envirement? My music Genres: fifty percent blues, twentyfive percent classic rock and twenty five percent classical. My two floor speakers are not determined yet. Beside a music source do I need any other components?

2 DWM Bass Panels placed below the MMC 2s

thanks for the affirmation that I am going the right direction.
I'm planning on purchasing the following speakers from Magnapan, I exceeded my budget by around $1000.
Would you recommend me buying a different Emotiva preamp instead of waiting for the xmc-1?

BTW if you are REALLY REALLY concerned about two channel performance, you may (after you have auditioned them side by side) want to integrate the DC-1 with the XMC-1. It's a guess but I reckon the DAC in the XMC-1 will be as good as the DC-1, maybe even the exact same DAC implementation for stereo or it could be even better. Cheers Gary |

I remember some time ago they were worried the XDA-2 may compete with the XMC-1. But that was before the DC-1 was introduced. |

Not knowing anything about audiophile equipment ... Do I need to take a trip to Emotiva headquarters to audition their equipment?
I've read the professional and the customer reviews but never heard one.

^^^If you have the time and resources, practically anything is possible in this hobby, but I personally don't think going on some kind of "pilgrimage" to Emotown would be necessary. There are practically hundreds, if not thousands of great audio gear manufacturers in this country, and around the world, and I do not believe it is required to visit even one of them in order to get the "audiophile" experience, or to become an audiophile... On the other hand, as an Emophile, it might be fun for you to attend one Emofest, if you have the wherewithal... I do not necessarily think that would turn you into an audiophile, but you would certainly meet some interesting folks...   ... Just my two cents |

It's more important to hear the gear in your own room (by using the trial periods). But auditioning them is second best.

I want to spend $3500 on my 2 channel system less speakers no vinyl, or cd player. My speakers would be maggies 1.7is. Whats the best choice in emotiva amps pres, and dacs?

Buy new or low mileage, you'll me extremely happy!!
im not intelligent discussing Maggies, someone else will chime in I'm sure. If a set of XPA-1Ls will drive them you'll have a bunch of coin left over and a killer system on any budget!

I would go with what Nick suggests, except I would pair the Maggies with nCore amps and use the savings for a sub.

Throw some HEAVY CURTAINS in front of the windows, two bass traps in each corner behind the main speakers, a light rug in front of the speakers to the listening area and pull those front speakers at least 3-6 feet out from the walls/corners with a slight toe in

Instead you may hear more reflections of the walls and the room. Bass traps aren't very expensive. Add $50 bucks on heavy curtains and $25 on a light rug and you will be a lot closer to audio nirvana. |
