I agree wholeheartedly with the gear recommendations but in an untreated room you won't hear the full potential of the system. Instead you may hear more reflections of the walls and the room. Bass traps aren't very expensive. Add $50 bucks on heavy curtains and $25 on a light rug and you will be a lot closer to audio nirvana.

maybe add some decorative tapestry or grand moms hand made blanket for presentation/display  and sound wave absorption.
