Im guessing this thread is in response to my comments and statement on Diana's Montreux concert a few nights ago. Thanks for this thread,,,,,,,I just found her this week and all of the suggestions will keep a lot of us busy for awhile.
Peace,
Nick

Not to overlook Patricia Barber........unreal recordings! I just listened to her for the first time. The double bassist is a whole lot of fun! Patricia barber's stage presence leaves a bit to be desired (cat lady vibe) but close your eyes it isn't bad. I guess I don't go for the slow spoken vocal style of jazz? But apart from that the rest of the band was pretty fun and the recording quality was good - immediately makes you sit up and listen. Are all her songs the slow spoke vocal like singing style or is there actual singing in there too? Any favorites of hers you like?

I have 4 of her albums and saw her at the Syracuse Jazz Festival. She's a great talent. Must have been a great show! I'll have to get up to one of the festivals. I frequently go up to visit my brother and sister-in-law around the time of the State Fair. It's just that I'm not sure my wife will be so willing to go (I had to drag her to see Weather Report when we were dating).

Diana's always got a first rate band - you could follow any of them - Russell Malone, John Clayton, Anthony Wilson, etc for many, many new discoveries........

Barber's "Modern Cool" album in Hi-Res got Stereophile's recording of the year for 2013....... That, and "Companion" are my favorites. She was a dual piano and psychology major in college! Way audiophile quality recordings....and have been used for system evaluation for years....

I am a Diana Krall fan, too. I don't care as much for her slow stuff, though. Someone I would like to recommend that many people haven't heard of is Cheryl Bentyne. Hers is a somewhat similar style to Diana Krall, she is a talented vocalist, and used to be part of the Manhattan Transfer. I use one of her tracks, "Let Me Off Uptown" from her CD of the same name, for evaluating equipment.

I love to the intensity and sensitive interpretation she can do. I can say Diana Krall is not a great singer but a great artist and pianist.

WOW! It looks like I am not the only one who loves Diana Krall. You guys have all her records, live concert blu-rays, and have actually seen her live. That's awesome! I feel like I arrived late to the party of the year here. HAHAHHAHA! You are all 100% right about her looks too. The Glad Rag Doll album artwork is especially nice IMO. I am honestly a bit surprised she has those photos on there to be honest. I wouldn't think she would market her sexuality as she is doing. Believe me, I am NOT complaining at all!! Just a bit surprised. I even noticed that Norah's last record had a bit of a "sultry" cover shot as well. Yeah, it's just a head shot, but it did appear (to me) that she was trying to market her looks a bit. There are even shots of Adele floating around now, where she seems to be doing the same thing. Personally, I find all three of these women to be very sexy, but I think they make such great music, they could could all look like "stumps off the ugly tree" and I would probably still be in love with them. I remember when I was in my younger years, I was in love with Samantha Fox (never liked her music though), Paula Abdul, Lita Ford, all the members of Kittie, etc. There is just something about female musicians that I have a weakness for. If I ever meet a nice girl who loves music (especially if she plays), I will marry her after the first date. HAHAHAHAHAHHA! Thanks for all the recommendations everyone, I will have to take the time to go through these and give them a listen. I feel that I just discovered all of this amazing new music, I had never knew existed. Exciting times for a music lover!

She just seperated from Elvis Costello, maybe she want to make him desire... If it not working with him, it working for me.

Count me in as a fan of Diana Krall. But I'm more of a fan of the earlier stuff - like Ella Fitzgerald Billie Holiday & Sarah Vaughan. And Sinatra! That is to say - Frank Sinatra. Nancy is 'ok' - just not my cup of tea.

Lucky man I'm not so bad, my wife also loves music but not as much as me, I think that I'm a little bit excessive in music listening.
