Good. I don't want to go back, either.
I'd like to write a book. But it'd be SciFi or other fiction......

If I could write fiction, so would I. But I suck at writing dialogue, and am not imaginative enough to come up with a scintillating plot. Of course, that doesn't stop a lot of authors...

I’ve had a few friends who have tried their hands at writing fiction novels. Most were, unfortunately, pretty bad. I do still respect them for trying, and hope that they improve with additional attempts. Books aren’t easy, and it takes significant work to produce high quality.

If you are AT ALL curious? Please give the Stephen King work, 'On Writing' a look....and a read.......
Some very useful information, including stuff like 'tool kit', the need to read, and the closed room. Develop the habit is important, too......
I've taken a stab at the 'discovery' method which is to start simple and follow the story....Like digging in your back yard, you discover a brick....
Which leads to a wall...than room....and a story. Treat it like that. I'm not certain I could plot a story COMPLETE from beginning to end,
so that is a good method for me. Let's see what we discover!

What really scares me the most is our power grid. For 30 years the Society of Electrical Engineers have begged Congress to spend money to strengthen the electrical grid. The power companies won't spend the money to do it. Congress refuses to spend $3-5 Billion to stop sun flares or EMP bomb damage (using shunts) that could put US in the stone age without power. But they will throw $Billions overseas and not even blink. I've read it takes 6 months (don't know for sure) to build & ship the xformers used in the grid and I understand Siemens (in Germany) is now the only manufacturer. Maybe the ChiComs are building them. now. That is scary. Question: Are you an electrical engineer active with an electric utility company?

Apropos whatever it seems to fit: Conspiracy theories sell well. Common sense is very difficult to merchandise. And someone is always ready and eager to manufacture something that will sell, no matter how meretricious.

Common Sense? What's that? I've seen no evidence it exists.....And enough variation between those who claim it to realize it is a learned behavior, nothing 'inate'......

If 10 people tell me "don't go in the woods - there's a big alligator there," and another 10 people tell me "don't go in the woods - there's a pack of rabid dogs there," and another 10 people tell me "don't go in the woods - there are skunks all over the place," I may not be able to decide what's in the woods, but it's common sense not go in there.

But in the world in which we live in ... 10 people tell you "don't go in the woods - there's a big alligator there" 10 people tell you "go ahead in the woods - it's a hoax, there's no big alligator there" 10 people tell you "there's no such thing as alligators" 10 people tell you "only wimps are afraid of the woods" etc.

Yet, the question remains.....or perhaps more than ONE question. First? How many of those 10 X3 people have actually SEEN anything or are just repeating what they've heard? Second? What eats or displaces WHAT in your scenario? Third? Are we talking 30 different people or in the 30x 'cautionary' types are there fewer, with duplication by group? It also kind of depends Where. In Florida? I could believe all 3! Toss in a SkunkApe for good measure and some hostile rednecks. Common sense tells me to go Into the woods, fairly well armed and install half a dozen trail cams. than go back in some period of time and look at the data. And I might add that with 30 people? It is unlikely all of them had NOT heard the 'tales' of the woods. And either went in anyway or made up another 'monster' to be afraid of......

I have no idea but Suspect that more 'specialized' software / drawing program might be needed for this project..... www.wtui.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/WTUI_NewUserPrestentation.pdfI hope I'm linking the LM2500 cross section drawing. You'll find this bad boy on airplanes AND ships. Huge, compact power output while being space saving compared to more traditional ship propulsion systems. But at the cost of higher fuel consumption.....which the Navy is less concerned with. All those curves and blade detail would but nuts to draw without some help from the software. Multiples of these in a Cruise Ship would provide plenty of power / electric since many of the newer designs use Azipod, electric 'pods' slung under the ship. No rudders, either, since the pods rotate..... new.abb.com/marine/systems-and-solutions/azipodThey look like the bottom end of an outboard motor UNTIL you realize they are gigantic and you can enter the pod from INSIDE the ship.......Up to over 20 MegaWatts capacity EACH.....

My hand-drawn equipment drawings may lack professionalism, but nobody can claim that I'm using their graphics without permission. These are (for better or worse) my own creations.
