Well passive pre-amps can sound different from each other. A lot of times it's about matching impedances of the potentiometer, wire legnths and amp input impedances properly etc. The potentiometers can be different. If I recall correctly Keith once mentioned what kind of potentiometer it was. I think it was a bournes or goldpoint potentiometer. Maybe he can remind us? KeithLI'm hoping they'll see the success the CF has and then release a fully p*mped pre-amp like luminous audio's stuff. :)Of course I'm making assumptions but I think the CF will really sell. luminousaudio.com/axiom2.html |

I'm contemplating using an unbalanced CF in between an ERC-3 and a USP-1. The idea being to even out the volume levels between vinyl, which is perfect in the USP-1 and CD which is a bit sensitive on the volume control via the remote. Thoughts? Comparison to fixed value attenuators?

Looks pretty cool and the price seems perfect.
A couple questions. Does anyone know:
A: When connected to an amp, is the Volume zeroed out at system startup or is it wherever you had it at turnoff?
2: How long are the cables?
C: Will adding, say, a 25'or 35'cable to the device degrade SQ?

My own 2 cents, the CF is built like a tank and it's really smooth. I don't have a need for one, but it's really really solid. I got to play with one at EmoFest. From a "technical" point of view, I'd think that they're probably quite similar. Most good quality pots behave pretty similarly. |

I first saw the CF at Boston Emotiva on the Road and wanted it badly for my Airmotivs and Mackies, just to control the volume easily but it wasn't on sale yet. Now that it's available, have no use for it at the moment but still want one. Purchased unbal CF and bal CF for future use.
