Thanks for all the input guys. I think for now, I'll end up keeping my current amplifiers and just get the UMC-200. I think my current amps, even as old as they are, provide plenty of clean power for the NHTs. I was just hoping to simplify with a multi channel HT amplifier, but that can wait for now until the budget allows for something more substantial. My current amplifier setup is: - Carver A-400x on the sub (THX certified, 200 wpc stereo @ 8 ohms, 300 wpc stereo @ 4 ohms, 500w mono @ 8 ohms
- Adcom GFA 545 on the rears (100wpc stereo @ 8 ohms)
- Mitsubishi DA-A10 on the mains (100wpc stereo @ 8 ohms)
I was running one channel of the Carver to the center and the other channel to the Sub (sub has dual 8 ohm voice coils) with a Denon receiver. The Denon stopped working one day, so I pulled my old Yamaha RX-V795 receiver out of shed duty and brought it into the house, but the center channel output on the Yami (both the amp out and the preout) has some serious static in it. So for now, I'm running without a center and reconfigured the sub to use both channels of the Carver.
So I want to get an UMC-200 to replace the V795 receiver, and would like to keep the sub on both channels of the Carver, so I will need to get something to power the center channel.

Hey Stoop, is that LP in your avitar a 25/50 Black Beauty, or one of the bursts? It's my 1978 burst 25/50 ... I absolutely love this guitar! when I bought it about a year ago, it was unplayed with all the original tags, paperwork, etc ... Basically was BNIB. It was part of a large collection being sold after sitting in storage for 35 years. I've played quite a few guitars, with this being one of the less pricey ones, but the build quality on it is so solid and precise, it's been my favorite for a while now.

Thanks, the Tobacco burst and gold hardware really set it off. folks who know Gibsons are always coming up to take a closer look when they see it. The pickup tap is factory installed and is great to have, especially after swapping out the OEM Series VII pickups for some Lindy Fralin Unbucker pickups. The Fralin's, when split, still have plenty of gain while providing that single coil tone. Some cool features of it are the 5 piece flamed maple neck, brass nut, neck volute, etc ... 3411 of them were produced from 1978-1979, and it was purported to have been personally designed by Les. It is heavy though, weighing in at over 10lbs. After being on stage for 30 minutes, I can really start to feel it ... This one was my work horse before I got the 25/50. It was custom built by Mark Erlewine in 1976. He built the body and affixed a very thin Gibson neck to it. I actually took it down to Mark last year to have him look at it, and he was very excited to see it again It's mainly a soloists guitar ... very fast neck, tight action, and extremely high gain. It cuts through anything in the mix and steps out FAR to be heard Sorry, I've gotten off topic here ... I can talk about guitars all day long!

It really sounds like they added some great details to the 25/50 and I had read about the "burden on the shoulder", it looks like a exceptional guitar. And this is another beauty, obviously you know how to pick them. There was a thread here that Ed (porcheguy) started for posting guitar pics, but it lost steam pretty quickly. Nothing so unique, but here are my two LPs, a 2011 LPR8 plaintop in Amber Burst (and baseball bat neck), and a 50th Anniversary LPR0 in Cherry Burst (V3 with the 60's thin profile neck). Sorry for derailing the thread. To get back on track I'll say that I've been using a UPA-700 with 88 dB sensitive speakers, in a small/mid size room at usually less than reference levels it works very well. At times I push it hard and it still holds up, but I would probably prefer the non-existent XPA-7. That said I'd give the UPA-700 a try, it may do the trick for you (and as we all know it probably won't be your last amp).

Very nice! Looks like a single piece on the left, but love the color and subtle flame on the right! That one must look phenomenal under some stage lights. One of the guitars in the collection I bought the 25/50 out of was a 1952 all gold LP ... It sold to a guy in New Orleans for a good chunk of change. I had it for a while, and played it through an all original 1960 Bassman combo, and ohhh man, sweet-sweet music! It was very hard not to scoop this one up for myself! It was obviously someones money-maker guitar, as the paint and some of the wood was played off the back of the neck. As for the UPA-700, I actually decided to go another route. I would really like more than the 80wpc for the NHTs. Right now I'm debating between a JBL AVA7 (125w x 7) or an Adcom 7500 (150w x 5). The AVA7 is reported to be a rebadged Lexicon GX7, so there's some merit there. I'm leaning towards the AVA7 and will probably pull the trigger in a couple of hours.
