WHAT HAPPENS TO THE MOG SERVICE AND SUBSCRIBERS?
The initial April 15 date we set for shutting down the MOG service has been extended for the time being to give us time to add and complete the features we think will ensure the smoothest, easiest transition from MOG to Beats Music as possible. Based on the feedback from MOG users, we’ve already completed a playlist conversion tool, available here, and are working on additional features that we’ll outline shortly. We will still offer all MOG subscribers a one-month free trial of Beats Music once we establish an end-date for MOG. In the meantime, please continue to enjoy the MOG service.

I believe Beats had to do this as there were so many "Moggers" jumping ship because of not being able to import their playlists, etc. It's a good "try to save customers" move by Beats. Shows they are paying attention. I went ahead and cancelled my membership, and will leave it that way. In the search for another streaming service I came across a French company named Qobuz that streams at an incredible 16/44.1. You can get different levels, so if you only want to pay for 320kbps you can do that.
In addition to streaming they offer HD downloads like HD Tracks. Good feedback all the way around from people. Quboz customer service is supposedly very responsive to people. Many like their lay out more that other streaming services. About to subscribe. Will report when I have had it a while.

I had moved too but just cancelled Spotify and reenlisted with MOG......i think they may delay shutting down for some time.....and the free month will compensate any overlap.

So you can go to the Qobuz site, downoad the pc or mobile device players, and get 7 free days at 320kbps.
And, if you email them, they allow you to sign up using your charge card then you get 30 free days at 16/44 or higher and are charged monthly thereafter.
The monthly charge is about $27 usd (19.95 euros), but then this is actually cd or higher quality streaming.
If you sign up for a year at a time, its about $200 euros, or about $22.50 per month.
I understand this is the highest resolution music streaming service with a large catalog available.
I plan to try out the free 30 day cd quality plan, then make a decision.
But for 75 cents per day for this quality, may very well be worth it !

Lanna - Yesterday at 20:54 I am one of the feedback persons as I am using the trial. I sent the person that was helping me a note saying that they should not shut Mog down until their product has equal functionality especially on the browser application. The browser cannot create a library or a play list all you can do is favorite something and it adds to the matching algorithm. I also sent them a picture of my audio gear and told them that I streamed through my laptop to a DAC and that I rarely stream through a mobile app. The team was always very nice and responsive through Facebook messages offering to create a play list for me and move it to my browser account. I am glad that they were listening to us and made the extension as I did not plan to convert under the current limitations. I did not get this message though so did you get an email?

I know it does no good pining for the old days but I have spent the past few months testing a variety of streaming services (Spotify, Beats, Rdio and now Qobuz) since the MOG demise announcement and when I switch back to using MOG I marvel again at the beautifully simple interface of both the ios app and the web app. It just pains me to have to try and find a substitute because none of the potential replacements comes close. Its nice that Beats is temporarily extending MOGs life but....

No, I didn't get an email, this was posted on the Mog support page.
The Qobuz is sounding very excellent at 16/44 right now playing Herbie Hancock.
Worth the month free trial, anyway!

I signed up for the free QOBuZ and it seems most of what I like isn't available due to artist compensation issues. Back to Spotify.

I have cancelled Mog, but it doesn't officially end until April 2. I signed up for Qobuz several hours ago. The sound is as good as any CD. WAV, or FLAC, etc., file you have ever heard. I have been doing some A/B testing, going back and forth on my hi-fi system between 320kbps/MOG and 16/44.1/Qobuz on the very same songs, and I will tell you that I am not going back to 320kbps again. There is as much, and probably more, sound difference between Qobuz and MOG, as there is between Pandora/192kbps, and Mog. The sound is just awesome. I have many CD's recorded to FLAC, and comparing them to Qobuz there is no difference. But there have a couple of CD's on Qobuz that I actually think sounded better than my FLAC files. So, go figure? I am finding music on Qobuz that I couldn't find on MOG...for example, Led Zeppelin. I am listening to Zepp II as we speak. I do like the MOG layout better than Qobuz's. Maybe Qobuz will get better. They seem responsive to emails. The main thing is I hope Qobuz will be challenging to other streaming companies to take the initiative and offer 16/44.1 or beyond, as well, at competitive prices. For now, and for the awesome streaming sound I am getting, I will put up with the learning curve with Qobuz.

I did receive an email from Mog today. I think I am old school as I grew up flipping vinyl on my record player and have just had the decades old habit of being an album listener. I do not have but maybe two play lists so that is not a big deal to me but creating a library like the favorites section is a big deal. I think these streaming services figure on mobile app listeners as the majority but I have no statistics to verify how people stream their music. The only time I use my mobile is for bluetooth in my auto.
Hello Moggers,
Sorry for being so quiet lately. We’ve been heads-down building some features specifically for you. They’ll help make your transition to Beats Music as smooth and seamless as possible.
WHAT'S NEW
We completed work on the playlist conversion tool. Transfer your MOG playlists to Beats Music >
MOG will not shut down on April 15th. There’s still some work ahead of us. So we’ll keep the MOG service active for a little while longer.
Monthly billing will remain active for now. Don’t worry. We’ll give you a 30-day heads up on the new transition date. AND you’ll still get your first month of Beats Music on the house. Just keep an eye out for an email update.
Thanks for sticking with us. Your loyalty and feedback over the last two months has meant the world to us. We hear you.

Why not try streaming to your stereo from your mobile using a bluetooth receiver or airport express?

30$ a month wont be worth it to me for Q. no matter what the quality I will have to find a new alternative once MOG goes bye bye A little pricier, yes, but the way I think about it is $23 per month compared to $10 for Spotify, Mog etc if on the annual plan. And considering SQ as my highest priority, it's 4x the resolution. Compared to the cost of Video on demand, HBO, etc on cable the extra $13 isn't much. 2-3 movies per month. Or total cost equalling one Hi Res download per month. Since I don't subscribe to any cable add-ons (I use Netflix streaming) and what I have invested in my audio system, seems justified. But we'll see!
