This might be the best blues album you have never heard of, Scott Henderson's "Tore Down House". Henderson is a fusion guru and teaches (or did) at the Guitar Institute of Technology. It's his 2nd blues effort (Dog Party was first) and I think the better of the two. It's amazing to me that he really keeps this album pure pentatonic (blues scale) but with a twist. Many blues albums are just the basic 1-4-5 chord progression, but on this album the blues is done with a bit of a twist. No two songs really sound alike but its all rooted in the "da blues". I have had this CD for years (1997), not sure if I've wrote about it in the past. For me, it's the best blues album I've ever heard. You might care to differ and thats OK. Make sure you check out "I Hate You" which is quite funny and "Tore Down House" which is awesome. The best track in my opinion is #9 "Mocha" which I think has the best and most soulful blues solo that I have ever heard. Thelma Houston (Don't Leave Me This Way, I got The Music In Me) on vocals and she is awesome...... They got this band in heaven where Jimmy Smith plays organ and Stevie Ray Vaughn plays guitar, except SRV plays even better in heaven. But then, I bet we all wail in heaven. 8)

I know I like The Blues; they're doing well this year and in contention for the President's Trophy.
