"Top or bottom" has a much different meaning in a gay bar as well. Hey...! How do you know that? I've been around.

Is it better to buy the top of the line product in an average quality maker, or the entry level product in a better build company, if the price/service etc. is the same? This can apply to any piece of gear, but I am looking at buying a preamp, probably used. , well, that depends on you - doesn't it!? where you set the line for 'any piece of gear' for yourself? you're looking for a preamp, what you consider average and what 'entry level in a better build company'? how do you keep average and better build apart - by price, quality of sound, both or maybe just plain optics? size maybe, or color.... (i am just f*cking with your mind right now). some ppl consider a $299 5.1 system from best buy average, others a a $10.000 custom build. what is the better build company - panasonic or krell... you get my drift i assume. cheers, L

For my mass market purchases, usually a couple of models from bottom present best value. Buy nice or buy twice. Realistically, many of us here buy nice AND buy many twice over.:-)
