The XPA-1L also complicated matters somewhat because it sounds ridiculously good in either mode I can vouch for that! Personally, I wouldn't be willing to bet serious money that I could tell the difference between Class A and Class A/B operation for either amp. Both sound very good in either mode. Hand on heart, I would not take a bet that involved me identifying the two bias modes in a blind test, even with a 50% chance of being right. Low bias sounds near-as-makes-no-difference identical to high bias at my typical listening volumes. And that's totally OK with me.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I'm thinking of spending the money to buy room treatment instead. Time to put some diffusers behind my maggies.
