Make you wonder what Beats had up their sleeve coming up that caught Apple's attention. Just a headphone brand alone isn't worth 3B and their streaming service wasn't something that Apple just could not have done themselves.

What they have under the sleeves is a whole bunch of idiots buying their products...I include myself in that list of idiots because my computer came with Beats Audio integrated but I have no choice.

Well they also carry all of Beat's headphones in their stores. This is not a surprising move to me. We all know there are much better headphones for the price of Beats, but for the average consumer they are pretty stellar headphones. If you listen to the mainstream line you will find that Beats will come out on top.
Either way, you can't foul Apple for knowing how to make money. After all, that's why we work isn't it?

We are clearly in the age of overvaluation. Apple might be purchasing Beats to squash offers from other companies.

One consequence of this is that Dr. Dre will make a lot of money. Perhaps even top the richest hip hop artist list which is currently led by P. Diddy and JayZ.

Personally I think this is a rumor, and I hope that Apple would produce something of better quality than this.

Correct, I'd just be disappointed is my point. I have lots of Apple products and the build quality and reliability have been great, and I've been an Apple customer since the G4. But these headphones are junk IMHO, and I'd hate to see them take this direction.

For $130 you can buy the Sony MDR7506 - much better value. I always liked these for the money.

It will be interesting to see.
Maybe they want MOG to help out iTunes Radio.

How does Apple differentiate its huge stockpile of Mastered for iTunes music downloads? By offering them in high res. And how do we enjoy these better quality versions? With a new pair of Beats headphones.
I for one, like where this is going...

The Beats brand has a much farther penetration than just headphones (which are still being manufactured for them by Monster, by the way) and it's just as much about the business genius of Jimmy Iovine as it is about Dr. Dre...

I think this is all about the very fast move to streaming - Beats just gobbled up MOG.
And iradio isn't really a presence, for whatever reason.
CDs are so last decade!!

Beats are utter crap in their price category. Teenagers are who buys them. I got my nephew a set of Senn 598's for his birthday and he was all bummed that they weren't beats because thats what all his friends have.... lol I understand his position because I've been there but once I convinced him to try them on, he was going back and forth with his friends beats studios and within 20 seconds of having both on, put the studios down and gave me a hug lol. If a kid that has been swayed that much by marketing can do a 180 that fast, there must really be a difference. I tried the studios on after that and had to laugh... They are fart bass phones. Bloated bass and recessed everything else to make up for the bloated bass.... crazy bad for $340.
One thing Beats does make that pretty good is there little pill bluetooth portable speaker. It's actually quite good, I have one for going places and use it as the man music source when out in the middle of nowhere

I read that Beats makes about a Billion a year which surprised me, so it's quite the lucrative business!
