... Anyway, regarding your Case B, I guess this would be an option if you had to use room correction, but I would never hook it up this way for my use. If you really wanted to use the DSP in the XMC-1 on a dedicated 2 channel system, could you not hook your digital input in direct, then use the processing, then send the digital signal to the external DAC, then to the amps? Don't know, just asking. This seems crazy to me too because you would basically need different speakers for 2 channels vs surround in the same room, but I'm sure people do it. Or perhaps you could go crazy, route the DAC signal BACK into the XMC-1, and use the Zone 2 outputs out to the amp. It's this sort of thinking that allows my receiver to bi-amp. Don't know, just talking out my butt out loud. ... Cheers --- Bonzo A far too complex solution IMO. I was only trying to look at a simple solution of XMC-1 an Amp and subs. Also the digital out of the XMC-1 may be limited to 48kHz/24bit. Don't know along with many other things about the XMC-1 at this point? I'd love to have a thread limited to just the features of the XMC-1 and not delivery bashing to discuss these things. If someone posts crap the mods should just delete the post and not lock the thread. We might get some answers from Emotiva if this self control could be maintained and Dan isn't too pissed at this point for which I don't blame him. Example: Will Emotiva provide the protocol spec to users to create their own IP control programs at some point!

Well I was hoping my thread could be used to discuss features, but it was designed to help those considering the upgrade from other Emo products, maybe that's too specific, but discussing the benefits of features was encouraged. Many people have the same question as I proposed in the initiation of the thread. I have been second guessing myself for too long now about this upgrade. Then the DAC question came into my education. I bought the XPR-5 with every intension of purchasing the XMC-1. Then I started asking myself questions, second guessing, and started to contemplate buying the XSP-1 with a DC-1 . Confused, but its a good position to be in. I really enjoy the sound I have, and know I will vastly improve the quality no matter which way I go. I currently use my Adcom pre-amp as a straight wire, in bypass, a switch, and my DAC comes out of the ERC-1. I know no better, and it sounds great. I see nothing but a future of great improvement coming from the purchase of the XMC-1 , and I will be able to have a terrific two channel, and a HT system too. I will also have the ability to tweak the hell out of the sound with all the gizmos in the XMC-1. To further my education, I'll sit back and read all the postings after the XMC-1 is released. August is a fine time for me. Heck, there maybe some other products listed on the web site by then and we can start to wait for a few years for their releases. In all truthfulness, I have a difficulty believing that the music I currently hear will actually get better when I add the new XMC-1, it is that good now. So I am in for a real treat.
Its really a big plus having this message board on site. I have gathered some valuable education reading through these pages. Thanks to all of my fellow audiophiles
