Hi Everyone,
My name is Dave. After waiting years in vain for my B&K AVR-307 to die on me I finally went ahead and purchased my first Emotiva gear last week (XPA-2 Gen2) even though the B&K is alive and kicking. I've known about Emotiva for awhile now and even managed to convince few of my friends to purchase XPA-1/XPA-5 and so I'm well aware of Emotiva amplifiers.
Just wanted to introduce myself to the group and wanted to say I really enjoyed reading the board over the years and now that I'm a Emotiva owner and even a E-Club member (as I plan to purchase XSP-1, XPA-3 and one of the pre-processors - before my E-Club membership runs out for the year) I hope to be an active member.
I am running all Magnepan HT with 1.6 for L/R, CC1 for Center, and MC1 Rears with REL Strata 3 Sub. I'm using the XPA-2 to drive Front L/R and hope to eventually get XSP1, XPA3 and a Pre-Pro.
My main source is Marantz TT-15s1 with Virtuoso cartridge for analog and Oppo for DVD/A/SACD but I mostly listen to Vinyl.

I was in Portland last week. We enjoyed downtown Portland, especially Powell's Book Store. There were a ton of food carts there! Very nice city. Little cooler there than Tucson!
Welcome to The Lounge.

Personally I believe that Vinyl has been superseded. Even though I have over 5000 records and use Rega Dual and a commercial remastering turntable. I'm not fussed on CD sound. I love the naturalness, dynamic range and power of DTS Master audio, 3.1 or 5.1 or 7.1 channel sound, when it is recorded properly. This is the closest sound I know to the sound you hear when your in a concert hall seated very close to the conductors rostrum. None of my records, even the very best Decca (UK) or Telarc recordings in my opinion come close to matching DTS Master Audio for clarity, silent background, dynamic range, power, naturalness of sound.
The only trouble there are few well recorded DTS Master Audio recordings of Symphony Orchestras. There are Many Blu-ray Opera which I have. I leave the TV off and just listen to the sound on my sound system. Regretfully for me the sound is ruined in some cases by the sound of the ballet dancers movement and foot steps. Mao Last Dance contains a well recorded ballet sequence, and I wish it had been the full version.

Hi again,
Thank you all for such great and warm welcome.
It's fantastic to see fellow Oregonians here in the lounge.
I don't have much time to write a lengthy note today but just wanted to say that I am enjoying the XPA-2 so much so that I just ordered XPA-3 and UMC-200 (to carry me over till XMC-1 arrives) today and as an E-Club member the discount pushed me over the edge to order today vs. waiting. Furthermore, I want to add that Emotiva customer service is indeed fantastic.
Regards,
