If you can't see them, as I just experienced a second ago, it's all guess work. Having to rely on memory is not user-friendly, to say the least. Oh you mean like playing a piano or other musical instrument... I feel your remarks about the layout of the remote have merit, but your proposed solutions are totally unrealistic. That's like if I don't like the steering wheel in my car I demand that the manufacturer redesign it and give me a brand new car. Nope, I'm not entitled to that... if I didn't like it when I test drove it, I shouldn't have bought it. There aren't that many keys on the DC-1 remote. Many don't even use it, and instead use a Harmony or other universal, or don't use the DC-1 as a preamp so there is rarely a need to change the settings, or they have memorized the key locations. Unless you are like Leonard in Memento, it is doable.

I demand you create a new revision, pay for return shipping, and pay for shipping a new one. Does anybody else remember the days of CompuServe when you paid for emails by the character? Oh yeah.

I love this remote and was quite surprised to see this post. It was a factor in me buying this DAC. The only change I recommend is more progressive volume changes (it's too fast).

Honestly, Emotiva's industrial/user interface design is terrible overall. They really need to hire a UID/ID engineer full time. On the other hand, I am totally willing to put up with the mistakes and not raise a fuss about it because they're getting the important inside-the-box stuff right at a price I can afford. If the compromise required to get the performance at that price is a horrid UI, well, I can live with that. Better than the other way around!

To me, the Stealth DC-1 remote is an insult, in the 'what were they thinking' category. Why? It's hard to use in a dark or dimly lit room. Unlike all my cheap plastic remotes with bright light-colored text and button tops, this one requires me to stop and look closely at the buttons each time. Sure, a solid unit is a great idea, but it's like all the money went into materials and none into designing readability. What's the deal, Emotiva? I believe you ought to redesign the face and offer purchasers a free replacement, shipping paid both ways. I am just curious. Could you point out any other Dacs on the market which have similar features, quality of sound and price, with a better remote than the one with the DC-1? I brought a pretty expensive CJ preamp and it has an average remote for the outlay. Doesn't matter as I brought the preamp for the sound. Like others have mentioned, if the remotes that come with your products are not to your liking then it may pay to look into the many after market remotes that are around. Another cool option could be to go out and buy a few colors of glow in the dark paint and paint the buttons yourself!

I continue to really like this remote. Feels old school.
